Let's Talk Polish

Nail polish.

I can't believe the last time I posted about nail polish was in August. I am ashamed to tell you how much I bought since then. Thankfully Katrina now pities me so she aides and abets.
I'm going to give you a quick run down of some of the more recent ones I've tried.

China Galze 'Whirled Away' over Essie 'Using My Maiden Name'
'Whirled Away' looks gorgeous over everything I've tried it with but laaaaawwddddddd it's a fishing expedition to get the full effect. Essie, for me, still has the best "self levelling" formula I have tried. That may not matter if you're a Pro, but a rete like me needs all the help she can get.
Essie 'Naughty Nautical'
You. Need. This. In Your. Life.
Milani 'Quick Teal'
In the same colour family as 'Naughty Nautical' but a deeper colour. This line of polish from Milani claims to be a one coat formula and the product is so thick and pigmented that that is true. I would sugg…

Would I Repurchase? Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer (oil free)

One of my favourite "higher end" brands is Laura Mercier. If you follow me on Instagram or keek you know I absolutely looooooooooveeeeeeee her caviar sticks. *swoon* I've also seen numerous great reviews about her eyeshadows and highlighters. As far as complexion products go, the brand doesn't carry a full spectrum of colours for the loose powders or concealers. Sad sad sad. Thankfully, there are some shades for black women in the oil free tinted moisturizer.

Pictured above is the second darkest shade, 'Walnut'.
From the site: "What it is: A perfect blend of skincare and makeup that helps control oil breakthrough and gives skin a sheer hint of colour for a healthy, natural glow. What it is formulated to do: Laura Mercier created this product to give skin a healthy ‘no-makeup’ look with a soft hint of colour that evens and enhances without hiding the skin. This oil-free lightweight formula provides ideal protection from the sun’s harmful, damaging rays with…

Would I Repurchase? Clinique Anti-blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion

To tone or not to tone? That is the question.

Toner has always been a thing I thought I needed. I guess the "cleanse, tone, moisturise" mantra was firmly embedded when I became conscious of having to take care of my skin. Fun Fact: the first "skin care" product I ever used was Nadinola, as recommended by my guardian. Whaddup Mummy!
I can't remember who recommended the Clinique clarifying lotion to me but I've gone through four bottles of the stuff. The packaging states: "gentle, exfoliating formula clears dead surface cells and reduces excess oil that can lead to breakouts. Unclogs pores". At rest, it's a transparent liquid with an opaque white soluble at the bottom. You have to shake it vigorously before each use to mix the components.

Before using this clarifying lotion I was a staunch witchhazel girl. (A cheaper alternative by far since the Clinique cos…

Product Rave: Downy Unstopables In Wash Scent Booster

So you know of my love for 'smell goods'; well that isn't just limited to candles and anti bacterial hand gel. From the title you can see we're talking laundry, yeah laundry.

When I first saw these at the supermarket I thought, lazy man's fabric softener. Seriously, who has the time to always run back to the washing machine at rinse cycle? I know the modern models have the dispenser that allows you to put in the fabric softener at the beginning; but that ain't wha I working wid. #FirstWorldProblems According to Downy's website: "You love the softness of Downy. Add the feisty freshness of Downy UNSTOPABLES, an in wash scent booster that goes beyond everyday freshness to keep active wear, towels, and other fabrics smelling “wow” right up until the next wash. So every day, you can indulge in the freshness you crave. Just pick a scent below. Then see how to use UNSTOPABLES—and what makes it so fresh, easy, and fun".  So it doesn't replace fabric s…

Overview: Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick

Greetings lipstick heaux!

In my last lipstick review, I spoke about the Milani Color Statement line. There I had seven shades to shape my thoughts and now I really wish I had seven shades of this product.

The thirst is real. Seriously, I need more lipstick like I need more nail polish :/ ...but when you are exposed to such amazing products it's easy to lose your composure. As you would have seen here, my first purchases were '69', 'Rush' and 'Anarchy'.

'Rush' is the only one that doesn't suit my complexion so alas I'm still looking for a nude. In my wish list I said I wanted 'F Bomb' and 'Jilted', but that 'Venom' just wouldn't let me ignore it! Can I Live? What I really enjoy about these ultra pigmented shades is that I have the option of making them much more sheer by just dabbing on and smoothing out with my fingers. It's literally like the best of both worlds.

Product Rave: Neom Organic Treatment Candles

Ok, so it isn't a beauty product but I'm still loving it.

A couple months ago I posted this picture on our facebook page. I had decided to try these candles after not really enjoying the Air Wick ones I purchased from the supermarket. The apple cinnamon one is aiiite.

I noticed the break out on both cheeks around 6 weeks ago: This is what it looked like:

Not bad right? Well it got much worse. We are talking four pus filled, face demons on either side, plus the occasional mini demon. I was incredulous. Not only did I look like I had neglected my face, but people were commenting, and that made me more furious than ever. Acne EXISTS. Everyone doesn't have clear skin. It is a HUGE undertaking, maintaining a skincare regimen. However I digress, people will always say what they want.

My skin is SUPER sensitive; if anyone touches my face, I get splashed, I don't use a face towel to dry it, I use dir…
