Top Ten Nail Products for 2013

If you've read my recent nail polish post you are pretty much up to speed on my favourites. Still, I thought it best not to leave nails out of this 'Top Ten' series so let's recap shall we...

Zoya Nail Polish

I can't even name a colour, just the brand in general. I have not met a dud. Impressive no?

Zoya can be purchased from Bio Beauty, Coconut Walk, Hastings

Essie 'Play Date'

This could just be my favourite lavender polish. It screams Spring. That don't happen in Bim but heyyyyy.

Ruby Kisses 'Blues Clue'

My girl Paula from Pau Prints put this on my toes one day and made me a believer. Y'all know Ruby Kisses price is right too.

Speaking of blues...

Essie 'Butler Please'

Renamed 'Barbados Blue' by yours truly. Feeling patriotic? Just put this on.

And to round out the Essie train...

'A Cut Above'

You knew that was coming. My absolute favourite accent detail. Gorgeous over nudes.

Sinful Colors 'Vacation Time'

It contains the right amount of pink so your hands don't look like a mannequin.

For a very long time I was always drawn to pink nail polish. All shades, every brand. The pink that stood out in 2013 was:

Rimmel London 'Funtime Fuschia'

Their 60 seconds line lives up to the claims and that particular colour looks amazing on my toes. Summertime fine! image

I'm still on the hunt for my absolute to die for red but last year I tried the Nails Inc. formula and was impressed.

Best top coat:

Orly 'In A Snap'

Hands down. Read the rave here.

My favourite base coat:

Revlon 'Post Trauma Nail Treatment'

My nails chip regularly and this evens out the ridges. Polish glides over this fairly awesome too.

Special mentions:

Glass nail files

They shape and smooth the nail edge with out snagging. Get a good one.

Orly Nail Lacquer Thinner

Every nail polish collector needs a good thinner.

I'm still on the hunt for that it all be all polish remover. Leave your suggestions in the comments.

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

It's A Dupe!

Long time no dupe.

Corny? I know. I try.

Faithful readers would have seen me rave about the Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, a.k.a Face Cement, numerous times. Well, we have a dupe: The Make Up For Ever (MUFE) Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. I knew it instantly. So instantly that I've used the MUFE twice and decided that it's ridiculous to keep both since they are the same.

You can read all about the Becca primer in the link above so I'm just going to talk about the MUFE version here.

Can you tell which is which? No? Well, neither can I.
