Let's get naked...

Beautiful People!!

Lucinda asked me to do this one so, here it goes.

It seems to be trending now, this nude lip look. And I love it for myself. One of my favourite nudes is 'Touch' by M.A.C. It was recommended by Tenneille (heeey girl) and I love it to this day! So check that one out, I didn't have it at the time so I couldn't do a lip swatch, but it is beautiful!

A point that Lucinda also highlighted was that women of colour are unsure about the types of nudes available and what best suits their skintones.

I shy away from the ashier nudes only because they work me a little harder. But I CAN use M.A.C's Creme Cup, NYX Circe, and Revlon's Buff. But I'm telling you, it's all about the overall look and the finish of the lip product.

For deeper skintones, pinky nudes or true nudes work. Just use a brown (dark or medium) lipliner to anchor it.
For my lighter ladies, you can get away with the true nudes altogether with the added benefit of no liner unless your lips are two toned (i.e: black and pink or pink and pinkier). Or you're just uncomfortable with the 'rare' mouth look.

Sooooooooo, I took photos of some lip swatches.
NYX Lipgloss - Natural with Mahogany Lipliner.

Exotica Matte Lipstick - Nudist, HOT seller!
Here I have swatched some of my favourites from NYX and Exotica:

NYX Matte Lipstick - Butter with NYX Mahogany Lip Liner.
Madeleine - NYX Butter Gloss
NYX Butter Lipstick - Pops
The prices range from $15-$25. The beauty of finding the perfect nude as a woman of colour is that unless you tan deeply or get a lot lighter, that's your nude for LIFE! I love the matte finish of Nudist, but some days, I like the gloss and neutral almost beige cast of Madeleine. And when I'm in a really festive mood with my eyemakeup, I gravitate to the pinky nudes, something like Natural Lipgloss by NYX or the Butter/Mahogany Lipliner combo.

It will call for some trial and error but I guarantee, when you've found the perfect nude for your skintone, you'll be rocking that look almost everyday!!

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

Unlike my Influencers post the persons mentioned below are all local and I know them. If that makes me biased then you should take everything I'm about to say with a grain of salt.

Heidi Bowen of Moden Makeup

Let's get the obvious one out of the way shall we 😉 I've said before how much I've learned watching Heidi conduct her Workshops. Since then she has increased her skillset, restructured her modules and truly focused on knowledge sharing. Every participant departs feeling enlightened; emboldened to try something they once thought was daunting. No one leaves empty handed. This kindda thing speaks to me because I've attended many M.A.C classes and saw the value only in the products I was reimbursed. Not to say, the outing isn't a good time - especially if you go with friends - but some settings leave you more intimidated than excited. #TeamModen affiliations aside, I can see how Heidi has grown as a Beauty Educator. And fuh my one part I know any session booked…
