Product Rave: REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask #MarchMadness

I mentioned this in my Top Ten Base Products for 2014 post but it truly deserves its own time in the sun.

From the site - "Description: A potent bio active peel mask designed to renew the complexion, reduce the appearance of fine lines and dramatically improve skin tone.
Awarded Best for Instant Brightening in Martha Stewart Weddings Big-Day Beauty Awards 2012: The Best in Wedding Skin Care.

Results: Removes dead skin cells to renew the complexion.
Skin looks brighter, healthier, more radiant.
Helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Combats congestion, blackheads and blemishes.

How to use: Apply a generous amount onto clean skin over the face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Leave for 10 minutes. Dampen enclosed cloth and gently wipe off mask. Rinse skin with warm water. Slight tingling may be experienced during application. Use weekly. Not recommended for sensitive skin or for use just after shaving.

Bio Extracts: Natural fruit acids from passion fruit, lemon, grape and pineapple, along with Papain from papaya exfoliate the outer layer of the skin, encouraging cell turnover and smoothing fine lines.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Polysorbate 60, Glycerin, Lecithin, Lactic Acid, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Seed Oil, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Xanthan Gum, Maltodextrin, Sodium Lactate, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Passiflora Quadrangularis Fruit Extract, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Alcohol Denat., Limonene, Phenoxyethanol, Parfum* (Fragrance), Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extact, Tocopherol, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Linalool, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Citral, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Flower Oil, Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) Peel Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Oil, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Bisulfite *100% Natural Fragrance – Parfum 100%".

Each bottle contains 50 mls or 1.7 fl. oz. and retails online for $55USD or $135BDS DP at Pure Source Barbados.

The product comes securely packaged in an air pump bottle. The actual solution is in a bag within the bottle. There's a stopper cap attached to the nozzle which is further protected by a transparent cap for the entire bottle top. I mention these secure packaging elements because I've had two or three samples of this product prior to purchasing the full size. The samples came in a squeeze tube which when stored up right would cause the product to leak out.

Another difference from the samples was the 100% cotton cloth that comes with the full size bottle.

The actual mask is an orange coloured solution. It contains very small granules which assist with physical exfoliation while applying and removing. Distribution across the skin is easy. I use about a pump but I don't put it on my neck as the directions suggest. The pump allows you to dispense as little as you like.

As with all things skincare, you have to be consistent to see results. I'd recommend once a week use if your skin can handle it. "Not recommended for sensitive skin or for use just after shaving". <--- that's no joke. Do not put this on open skin - like if you just squeezed a pimple - because that would burn. Now I'm not saying that this is harsh; it's not, but you can definitely feel a slight tingling after a while. I know with masks we're tempted to keep them on for longer than directed in hopes of getting better results. That's not a good idea. Especially when dealing with acids. 10 minutes is effective enough.

This is a product I rely heavily on when I'm not getting chemical peels. It became even more dear to my heart when my skin was seriously dehydrated from using acne cream. You know, that tight flakey skin feeling. Well, I used this just once and all that went away. Followed up with a nice moisturizer and everything was right as rain.

I know this line gives some people price sticker shock but you should consider that they last a long time. The Micro Polish Cleanser that I had last more than a year and I used that thing often. Regular readers know I'm a huge fan of REN Clean Skincare and this is just another product that I can not help but sing its praises.

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

#FlashbackFriday | Beauty in Panama

Panama is most definitely beautiful. It was never a place I intended to visit so let me begin by thanking Innovate Barbados and COPA Airlines for the opportunity. COPA Airlines sponsored Innovate Barbados 2018 and provided three tickets for attendees to any COPA Airlines destination in the Caribbean or Central America. Panama was being promoted as a shopping destination - cause yuh know how Bajans love tuh shop!

If you're new to this blog, when a post starts with 'Beauty at/in...' it's not about the places' landscapes. It's a beauty blog after all; we're all about what cosmetics are available.

Having done no research about Panama, I was shocked to see the variety of brands available there. Panama is home to the largest mall in the Americas: Albrook Mall.

Very popular brands are available in Panama; whether it's via stand alone stores or counters in Cave Shepherd  / JC Penny-esque department stores. They're a lot of pictures ahead to be prepared to s…
