Treat yourself

Hi #Mavenz,

Hope you've been following all the quality info and finding this #marchmadness blogging hustle as exciting as we have.

I've been doing lots of housework, sourcing furniture, starting two businesses, monitoring workmen and planning a big move. Ya know how it is leaving the nest. My main focus hasn't been makeup for the first time in about two years.

I always try to treat myself monthly by getting my nails or hair done. Or even buying a new makeup item. However I've been in the doldrums since construction started.

Being dusty and sweaty lifting blocks, cutting grass and some musty wild bush leaves little room for glam.

So last week when Lucinda and I met up we had an impromptu girlie day slash, evening mini shopping trip.

We did some running around in the morning and then made our way to Get Set Makeup got an impromptu Moden haul. Then off to Cutters in the Crane, St. Philip for lunch, back to my house, beat her face and mine, filmed a video then headed to Sheraton.

Once there we browsed some shops a bit, then headed over to Inyouvations to see what they had for us to partake of.

We stocked up on or #bathandbodyworks products then headed to Cafe Sol for some nachosssss!

Lucinda had hit up Anna over at House of Glam. So we linked with her after the nacho run and had a good chat about beauty products and trends. Oh yea, and we bought some Colour Pop items from her too!

Ladies, my humble advice? Keep working on you! The trials of life can cause us to get stuck in a rut. So for your sake - especially and that of your spouse, family and workmates - keep it jiggy!!! Buy a lipstick, mascara, pencil. Get yourself a sheet mask or pedi. Invite your girlfriends over and have a spa evening or fave tv show/movie night. Or simply pour a glass of wine and savour it while curling up with a good book, or in this day and age a kindle lol.

It's the little things that make us appreciate life more and when we celebrate them with each other, it makes life that much more special and blessed. Do you, and enjoy it!

Xoxo Heidi

Lucinda bought me 'Pitch' and I bought 'Grind' and 'Sunnies' eyeshadow for myself.

My #mini #haul: Bath & Body Works Candles, hand cream in Black Cherry Merlot and #colourpop cosmetics lippie pencils in 'Pitch' and 'Grind' and shadow in 'Sunnies'.

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

Unlike my Influencers post the persons mentioned below are all local and I know them. If that makes me biased then you should take everything I'm about to say with a grain of salt.

Heidi Bowen of Moden Makeup

Let's get the obvious one out of the way shall we 😉 I've said before how much I've learned watching Heidi conduct her Workshops. Since then she has increased her skillset, restructured her modules and truly focused on knowledge sharing. Every participant departs feeling enlightened; emboldened to try something they once thought was daunting. No one leaves empty handed. This kindda thing speaks to me because I've attended many M.A.C classes and saw the value only in the products I was reimbursed. Not to say, the outing isn't a good time - especially if you go with friends - but some settings leave you more intimidated than excited. #TeamModen affiliations aside, I can see how Heidi has grown as a Beauty Educator. And fuh my one part I know any session booked…
