Drugstore Haul

Boy o boy, do we have some hauls for you. So much so we have to break them up. Right now it's all about Target, Duane Reade, Marshalls and Ulta.

The motherload

The joy of 24 hr shopping! While those stores are more expensive - you pay for convenience I guess - it was great to see so many brands that we locally don't have access to. We really didn't see that many deals until we got to Ulta :'( Speaking of Ulta, that's where I saw so many Zoya polishes I couldda cry.

But alas, that was our last night a.k.a money dun burn *sob*

The rundown:
  • Boots Expert Sensitive Gentle Cleansing Wash
  • Yes to Grapefruit Brightening Facial Wipes Thanks Heidi
  • Yes to Tomatoes Blemish Clearing Facial Wipes
  • Sonia Kashuk Eye On Neutral Matte - 02
  • Zoya 'Faye'
  • Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless '355 Coconut'
  • Orly 'Frolic'
  • CoverGirl Ready, Set Gorgeous '315 Tawny'
  • Maybelline New York Lash Sensational '01 Very Black'
  • Deborah Lippmann 'On The Beach'
  • Gosh Pencil Sharpener
  • NYC In a Minute 'Grand Central Station'
  • Maybelline New York Matte '660 Touch Of Spice'
  • Jordana Best Lash Extreme '301 Black' (not pictured)
The tampering with products in the drugstore complaint is real. We had to go through so many of those Maybelline Matte lipsticks in Ulta to find one that wasn't touched. The same was evident in Ulta and even worse in discount stores like Marshalls and Burlington. I know we'd prefer to have testers in every store but geeez if there isn't don't wreck the product for another customer.

Some prices, when tax is included, is kindda comparative to local stores. But lawwwddd the sales these stores have is what makes life sweet! That Deborah Lippmann polish was marked down to $3*! Gosh is being phased out of Duane Reade so everything from the line was discounted; that sharpener was only $1.79*.

So yeah, next trip money gotta set aside specifically for these drugstore goodies.

*prices before tax.

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

Purified Lactic Acid: One of the most hydrating Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Lactic Acid exfoliates the surface layers of t…
