Gems In The Marketplace

Allow me to give a little background.

A while ago during one of our #TeamModen meetings I said to Heidi, "wouldn't it be great if there was a place that we should swap or sell makeup we bought that didn't work for us?". At that time I thought it would be best if an established makeup retailer had such a forum. It'd be easier that way, yuh know, since they'd already be known and trusted. Bout a year passed and we saw no such thing emerge even after we'd run the idea by a few people. Well, one day Heidi created The Moden Makeup Marketplace facebook page and the rest, as they say, is history. "Be the change you want to see".

Too often I have purchased products - and shoes - online only to receive them and realise that it wasn't the colour depicted or it just didn't work for me. Now, I always recommend checking for reviews and swatches before you pull the trigger but we know it's not every time that you'll find an opinion from someone with the exact skin tone and/or type.

This is where The Marketplace comes in. Beauty lovers can swap items with or sell to someone that it might suit better. On the flip side, we now have a place where we can find items at reduced prices; many of them from brands that aren't readily available locally. Trust me, by the time taxes, shipping and then duties get on these imported items they cost a pretty penny.

My personal items in The Marketplace either: didn't suit my complexion and/or skin type, I already have something similar to it or I bought it just to do an overview post. #beautybloggerproblems Every odd cent recovered goes into those giveaway prizes cause as I've said before, we fund those ourselves. I have and will continue to review a lot of lip products on this blog but there's no way I can keep all those items. In this post I want to highlight a few lipstick formulas that I'm found of.

Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lipstick 'Naked Dolly'

An amazing formula. Check the review for full details. I could make 'Naked Dolly' work by adding a brown lip liner but I'd rather let someone else experience the awesomeness.

M.A.C Patentpolish 'Innocent'

Another lip product that can be made to work on darker skintones but I fell for the sheer formula and easy to use packaging. These have been re-released recently so check the M.A.C counters if you're interested in seeing other shades.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick 'Desirable'

Noticing a trend? Actually the only reason I've parted with this is because Heidi gave me a mini version.

Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color 'Just Peachy'

I love when an already inexpensive item goes into The Marketplace for an even lower price.

M.A.C Cremesheen 'Mystical'

Not only is this the perfect everyday colour for our skin tone; it's a limited edition shade in that special special packaging from the Alluring Aquatic Collection.

Full details on the condition and price of each item can be found on The Marketplace. Remember that each item that isn't brand new hasn't been swatched or used more than three times and they have been sanitized. We still encourage our customers to sanitize them again preuse for their peace of mind :)

Thank you for your continued support.

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

It's A Dupe!

Long time no dupe.

Corny? I know. I try.

Faithful readers would have seen me rave about the Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, a.k.a Face Cement, numerous times. Well, we have a dupe: The Make Up For Ever (MUFE) Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. I knew it instantly. So instantly that I've used the MUFE twice and decided that it's ridiculous to keep both since they are the same.

You can read all about the Becca primer in the link above so I'm just going to talk about the MUFE version here.
