Would I Repurchase? L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black

Looking at this old post you can see just how many L'Oreal mascaras I've tried. I liked everything about the original Voluminous formula so when I heard MakeupbyTiffanyD constantly raving about the Carbon Black version I figured I'd give that a try too.

L'Oreal says: "Voluminous® Carbon Black Volume Building Mascara is uniquely formulated to resist clumping, soften and build lashes up to 5X their natural thickness with 2X the intensity of your regular black shade. The unique maximizing formula quickly thickens and builds lashes in a single application for a full and dramatic look. The Volume Maximizing Brush thickens lashes evenly and smoothly, leaving them soft with virtually no flakes, smudges or clumps. Clump-resistant. Fragrance-free. Ophthalmologist-tested and allergy-tested. Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. How To Use: Expert Application Technique. Place brush at base of lashes and gently sweep up to tip—no need to pump the wand. Voluminous® Carbon Black Mascara will easily remove with soap and water".

The wand is exact to the original Voluminous. I don't agree that it's "clump resistant". As with all mascaras that add volume, clumps are possible. Especially when it's paired with a natural fibre wand. After using the Lancome Hypnose Drama, I don't find Carbon Black to be the most pigmented mascara but it more intense than the original.

I got this from Cave Shepherd for $26. Not a bad price but I wouldn't repurchase. Don't get me wrong: I've grown accustomed to L'Oreal's wet formulas and I do prefer natural fibre wands but this mascara to me was nothing special. One claim the marketing blurb made that I completely agree with is that it is easy to remove.

If you've tried this formula share your thoughts in the comments.

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

Long time no dupe.

Faithful readers would have seen me rave about the Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, a.k.a Face Cement, numerous times. Well, we have a dupe: The Make Up For Ever (MUFE) Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. I knew it instantly. So instantly that I've used the MUFE twice and decided that it's ridiculous to keep both since they are the same.

You can read all about the Becca primer in the link above so I'm just going to talk about the MUFE version here.
