Stash Status: M.A.C LipGlasses #LipSwatchWeek

This series is moving along nicely...

M.A.C says: "LIPGLASS - A gloss in a wide colour range that can create a glass-like finish or a subtle sheen. A unique lip gloss available in a wide variety of colours that can create a high-gloss, glass-like finish or a subtle sheen. Designed to be worn on its own, over lip pencil or lipstick, it's the perfect product for creating shine that lasts. It's pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic colour. It contains jojoba oil to help soften and condition the lips.

Key Claims and Benefits:

".

My first experience with these glosses was via a kit that M.A.C released a while ago in the A Tartan Tale Collection. I think those lip kits are a great way to try a variety of colours and finishes for a discounted price. While, like so many others, I find them to be a thicker sticky formula I also appreciate their glossy and long wearing properties. I would advise you though not to apply too much since the excess product does pool in weird places and cause that hideous 'webbing' when you're speaking.

The lipglass formula can be a full cream or contain varying degrees of shimmer but they're always high shine. There are currently 28 shades in the permanent range according to the M.A.C US site.

'Electro Lush'

Basically my lip colour in a tube. This isn't a permanent shade and there aren't any similar shades in the permanent range. In short, M.A.C obviously hates me *sob*

'Heroine'

M.A.C describes this shade as a "bright purple". It is one of the most popular shades that M.A.C offers; especially amongst black women. I don't have the lipstick but this plus the corresponding lip liner is bomb. Bomb I tell you.

 'Fab Fun'

This isn't a shade I would have chosen had it not been in the kit but since I've used it, I have come to appreciate how much dimension sparkly lip products add to the lips.

'Girl About Town'

It's a big toss up between this and 'Electro Lush' for my favourite. I'm not the biggest fan of pink lipsticks but there's something about this shade that makes me smile everytime I put it on. M.A.C describes the shade as a "bright blue fuchsia".

'Frozen Dream'

Another shade that shows the multidimensional properties of lipglosses that contain micro shimmer.

'Sassy Lassy'

A fun name and equally fun shade of pink.

 'Viva Glam I'

This is some grown woman ish!

'RiRi Woo'

M.A.C knows how to get us with that limited edition packaging boy. This glorious red is one of the more opaque lipglasses in my collection.

Once upon a time I also owed 'C-Thru' but I wasn't a fan of it at all and it seemed to go bad pretty quickly. M.A.C doesn't put the recommended shelf life of these glosses on their packaging but the industry standard is one year. Y'all already know that I use things until they change their scent or consistency.

Do you have any of these lipglosses? What's your favourite gloss formula? Let's discuss it in the comments.

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

It's A Dupe!

posted on our Facebook page April 12, 2013 "DUPE ALERT: M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Dark vs Maybelline Fit Me! in 355 Coconut. Both look the same applied to the face and are the same texture when swatched. The Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is bigger by 1 gram but the Fit Me! is significantly cheap... *ahem* more "inexpensive". There is one shade darker in the M.A.C version but 355 is the darkest shade in the Maybelline. (I'm NC50). If you go through a lot of face powder it's worth a shot - LR"
Talk about a throwback!
I watched a dupe video on YouTube recently where this comparison was mentioned and it reminded me that I had the same thought a while ago. The finish on the skin is identical. Since this original post M.A.C has changed the packaging on their Mineralize line and Maybelline has rebranded/re categorised the Fit Me! range into: Dewy/Set + Smooth and Matte + Poreless.
