Let's Talk Polish

My apologies for the break in transmission folks. I've have some migraines this week that were straight outta hell. I'm still feeling a bit weird but alas...the show must go on.

On to polish talk...pedicures specifically. I know some people won't post pictures of their feet for fear of the foot fetish weirdos on the interwebs but I have no such hangups. More to the point, since I mostly wear bright colours on my toes, not posting them would rule out a whole lot of polish swatches.

Here are some pedicures I've had recently.

Sinful Colors 'Snow Me White'

I am really starting to realise I need to leave the white polish application to the Pros. Look what an amazing job Keisha did!

When I tried it myself...not so much. I then topped it with their 'Hottie' polish that Victoria gave me and I immediately realised that that polish is an exact dupe of Sally Girl 'Dare U'.

Rimmel London 60 Seconds 'Sunny Days' + Sally Hansen Hard As Nails 'Ice Queen'

My Independence pedi. The blue and lavender glitter combination in 'Ice Queen' is just beautiful.

Milani Color Statement 'Peri-Wink'

This shade is very close to Essie's 'Bikini So Teeny'. While the Milani polishes have been repackaged, it's the same thick formula.

Picture Polish 'Chillax'

Finally got around to using this product from that Live Love Polish haul.

Deborah Lippmann 'Harlem Shake'

Another polish that I had for a while and only recently getting to. The formula on this shade was more sheer than I anticipated. I definitely need to try this as a manicure the next time.

#ShamelessPlug: they're some Deborah Lippmann polishes available in The Marketplace all now.

Essie 'Turquoise & Caicos'

I approach Essie's pastel shades timidly so I take any opportunity I can get to let someone else handle them for me. Again, Keisha did a great job.

RGB Cosmetics 'Minty'

Clearly I'm feeling these light green shades. I'm in collector mode with these RGB polishes...which ain't a good thing cause they ain't the cheapest. They're available locally from Pure Source Barbados. I highly recommend the cream finishes.

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

It's A Dupe!

posted on our Facebook page April 12, 2013 "DUPE ALERT: M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Dark vs Maybelline Fit Me! in 355 Coconut. Both look the same applied to the face and are the same texture when swatched. The Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is bigger by 1 gram but the Fit Me! is significantly cheap... *ahem* more "inexpensive". There is one shade darker in the M.A.C version but 355 is the darkest shade in the Maybelline. (I'm NC50). If you go through a lot of face powder it's worth a shot - LR"
Talk about a throwback!
I watched a dupe video on YouTube recently where this comparison was mentioned and it reminded me that I had the same thought a while ago. The finish on the skin is identical. Since this original post M.A.C has changed the packaging on their Mineralize line and Maybelline has rebranded/re categorised the Fit Me! range into: Dewy/Set + Smooth and Matte + Poreless.
M.A.C says: "A slow-baked powder with 77-Mineral Complex that provid…
