Holiday Sets: Kat Von D

More value sets talk.

Something I really appreciate that more cosmetic companies are doing is producing trial sized versions of their products. You have to analyse if the cost-per-ounce is worth it sometimes but in most cases it's still a great way to try something new. While the title of this post is about Holiday Sets I didn't get any of the big boys from Kat Von D.

Feel free to check out the videos below about her 'Mi Vida Loca' eyeshadow palette and lipstick set that she put out for the season this year.

I have more eyeshadows than I literally know what to do with and I saw a review a while ago that said the Kat Von D Studded Kiss lipstick formula is drying.

What I was very interested in though, are the mini sets that were released a lil before the Holiday madness.

Her widely popular Everlasting Liquid Lipstick 'Lolita' apparently has about three iterations. Fans were up in arms about the inconsistency of the shade and now it seems as through all three of the them will be added to the permanent line. I careth nothing about all of that, I just wanted to try it. Heidi got me 'L.U.V' a while ago and ever since then I wanted to try a more 'every day' shade.

Be sure to check out the next liquid lipstick comparison post for swatches and my thoughts.

The Ink Liner Trio Set was purchased solely to try 'Trooper'. So many YouTubers I watch rave about her liquid eyeliners that I had to get it. Especially as someone who struggles with liquid liner application. She also does a Tattoo Liner range which features a brush tip applicator; let's hope I don't have to buy that one too.

Each item in the kits comes with just under half the amount of product that would be in the full size. The kits costs $19.50* and $25* respectively. That's about the average costs of this sort of thing from Sephora and I think it's worth it. Both are currently out of stock on Sephora.com but the lip set is available on Kat's new website.

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

It's A Dupe!

Long time no dupe.

Corny? I know. I try.

Faithful readers would have seen me rave about the Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, a.k.a Face Cement, numerous times. Well, we have a dupe: The Make Up For Ever (MUFE) Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. I knew it instantly. So instantly that I've used the MUFE twice and decided that it's ridiculous to keep both since they are the same.

You can read all about the Becca primer in the link above so I'm just going to talk about the MUFE version here.
