And Again

Still with the no title posts...

Value sets just keep luring me in, but very seldom am I excited to use every item they contain. So here are a few more kits I purchased mainly for one product.

Clinique Pretty Wow, Pretty Now

This is a recent acquisition. When I realised how much I loved their cheek pop/blush pop in 'Cola Pop' I knew I had to get more. This set came with 'Heather Pop' and was $39.50USD while the blushes individually are $22USD. It also came with a crazy gift with purchase when I got it from Nordstrom so basically I had to have it.

Bite Beauty Discovery Set

I think I told myself that there were a lot of things in this set that I wanted to try but honesty I really wanted to get my hands on the Agave Lip Mask. I've seen such polar reviews on that product that I wasn't prepared to fork over the $26USD for a full size. The Discovery set was $55USD but it came with three full sized products that totalled $70USD on their own (the Agave lip mask wasn't one of them). Anytime you see one of these kits at Sephora get it.

#ShamelessPlug they're some awesome Bite Beauty products available in The Marketplace.

Butter London Backstage Basics

Butter London is available locally from Urban Corner Beauty, Lanterns Mall. At the time I purchased this set (April 2014) they sold the individual polished for $39.45BDS. This set was $139.85BDS. *wince* While I'm only fond of one of the three Butter London polishes that I have ever tried, I'm still glad I purchased this kit because it allowed me to try the Nail Foundation. It's by far the best Butter London product I've ever used. The nail file that comes with the kit ain't too shabby either.

Ole Henriksen Merry & Bright Duo

Y'all already know of my love for the Truth Serum Collagen Booster so this was just me getting a back up. A 1 oz bottle retails for $48USD but you can get deluxe sample sizes in various sets from Sephora. This duo was $24USD.

Becca Glow To Go Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlights

The highlighter craze started a while ago. While I'm not the biggest fan of cream/liquid colour products for the face this set was too good to pass up. And I did it all for 'Opal'. I gave the 'Champagne Gold' one to Heidi and she said she loves it.

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

It's A Dupe!

posted on our Facebook page April 12, 2013 "DUPE ALERT: M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Dark vs Maybelline Fit Me! in 355 Coconut. Both look the same applied to the face and are the same texture when swatched. The Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is bigger by 1 gram but the Fit Me! is significantly cheap... *ahem* more "inexpensive". There is one shade darker in the M.A.C version but 355 is the darkest shade in the Maybelline. (I'm NC50). If you go through a lot of face powder it's worth a shot - LR"
Talk about a throwback!
I watched a dupe video on YouTube recently where this comparison was mentioned and it reminded me that I had the same thought a while ago. The finish on the skin is identical. Since this original post M.A.C has changed the packaging on their Mineralize line and Maybelline has rebranded/re categorised the Fit Me! range into: Dewy/Set + Smooth and Matte + Poreless.
M.A.C says: "A slow-baked powder with 77-Mineral Complex that provid…
