Sheer Lipsticks

I often hear Beauty Vloggers say: what's the point of buying a sheer lipstick? I get that; they cost the same as the regular formula but you don't get that level of opacity. Sheer lipsticks have a very special place in my heart though. They're usually more moisturising and easier to apply. Where matte formulas can emphasize every line in your lips, their sheer counterparts make your lips appear more youthful and supple. The following are a few of the ones that I've tried.

Urban Decay Sheer Revolution Lipstick 'Sheer Rapture'

From the first time I swatched this I knew it was love.

M.A.C Sheen Supreme Lipstick 'Bare Again' and 'New Temptation'

I think this is the product that really sparked my sheer lipstick interest. These are OGs...probably the earlier version of M.A.C's now permanent PatentPolish Lip Pencils.

Estee Lauder Kissable LipShine '03 Ibiza Kiss'

These are very similar to the Sheen Supremes; almost identical in fact. This light coral shade is so pretty!

Tom Ford Lip Color Sheer '07 Paradiso'

There's more opacity in this formula than the aforementioned ones but it's still classified as sheer. That suits me just fine because I usually shy away from coral/orange lipsticks. 'Paradiso' has just the right amount of pink that makes it totally stunning.

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine 'No.19 Fuchsia In Rage'

This lipstick is very special since this shade stains. So you get comfort and longevity. Along the way I've discovered that this is the exact same color as M.A.C's Heroine so if you wanted even greater wear, pair it with the Heroine lip pencil.

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

Unlike my Influencers post the persons mentioned below are all local and I know them. If that makes me biased then you should take everything I'm about to say with a grain of salt.

Heidi Bowen of Moden Makeup

Let's get the obvious one out of the way shall we 😉 I've said before how much I've learned watching Heidi conduct her Workshops. Since then she has increased her skillset, restructured her modules and truly focused on knowledge sharing. Every participant departs feeling enlightened; emboldened to try something they once thought was daunting. No one leaves empty handed. This kindda thing speaks to me because I've attended many M.A.C classes and saw the value only in the products I was reimbursed. Not to say, the outing isn't a good time - especially if you go with friends - but some settings leave you more intimidated than excited. #TeamModen affiliations aside, I can see how Heidi has grown as a Beauty Educator. And fuh my one part I know any session booked…
