Samples Can Save Lives!

Mavenz,

Lucinda knows the way to my heart. Food & Makeup.
This may be the shortest post I've ever written simply because there are not enough words to describe how much I love this product.

Now most people may think by now that we ballin out here and does be buying THE priciest products for kix. Uh uh. Ya'll know since I've been battling my acne woes that I am heavy into the canvas care (skin gaw be sweet). So, quality often comes with a hefty price tag familieez!
Ya see dis right churr?? Go. Buy it. Now.
First Night of Use: I noticed a reduction in my oil production. Second Night of Use: I noticed pimples were gone by the next day (had it on for half hour). By the sixth time of use: I aino wha wunna waiting for cause dis hay was a SAMPLE and all now I still have enough for a full face. Next breakout beware!!!

I followed the instructions to the letter!!! I had naffff pon my face fam!

Above was the night I received this blessing of a face mask inna my life.

Micellar Cleansing Water Woes

Hopefully you would have already read my first impression of the Bioderma Sensibio H2O. As to be expected, other brands wanted in on the do. That's not to say that cleansing waters are anything new but surely there has been a resurgence. As with all the "woes" posts, this is a product comparison.

I can quickly eliminate the black|Up Bi-phase Cleansing Water from this mix. This a clear example of not reading labels carefully before you purchase. Had I been paying attention, I would have noticed the term "bi-phase" and left this right in Cave Shepherd. This type of cleanser includes an oil solution. The directions always state to "shake before use" in order to disperse the oil within the rest of the product. Typically these are very useful in removing waterproof products...but they also, in my opinion, negate the "do not rinse" instructions that come with cleansing waters. While black|Up also says "do not rinse" on this packaging I d…

#MMWC Week One | Full Face Drugstore

Moden Makeup Weekly Challenge - #MMWC - an initiative suggested by Sharalee to get us all back into using our collections. She must have subliminally heard that I was in a rut. Whatever the case, I think it's a great idea and a few of you Mavenz have agreed to go on the journey (how philosophical does that sound?) with me. Thank you.

Week one is all about using drugstore/inexpensive/beauty supply store makeup. Victoria raised an interesting point that I wish to clarify: the purpose isn't for us to buy products to be able to carry out the challenge. This is a shop your stash ting.

As Heidi would say, here's the beauty breakdown:

Random Question

I've done a few posts about storage solutions from Carter's and Sort Your Stuff; but I wanna know, how do you store your lip liners?

I recently switched over to a recycled Bath and Body Works 3-Wick candle jar and I think it's a better set up for seeing everything at first glance.

Please let us know your thoughts in the comments.

#Anti-Haul | What I'm Not Gonna Buy

Holiday 2016 releases are already out folks. The marketing beauty beast don't want us to have money no time atall atall. Please, let us make better purchasing decisions. There are some great budgeting tips here.

Pat McGrath Labs Lust 004 Lipstick Kit - $60USD

'Bloodwime' Sephora.com image
I'm totally for supporting Black women in the beauty industry - although her line is probably owned by Procter & Gamble - but $60?! nah Fam. The extra is fuh glitter and a clear lipgloss? Not when the lipstick alone is $25. p.s. I probably will get one of those.
Laura Mercier Fall In Love Face Illuminator Collection - $58USD
Sephora.com image
Honest to God I got my eye on dis. Like fuhrealfuhreal; but I really shouldn't buy it for the same reasons I said about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits. Also each pan is approximately 1/3 of a full size Face Illuminator, so if my math is correct - which it could totally not be - this should cost $55. I dunno how they worked out that it&#…

Summer '16 Standouts (Combos)

Last year's Summer Standouts post idea came to me at random and it's one I quite like. While I have been updating you on my monthly favourites I feel like Summer is a beast in and of itself. For us it's Crop Over time and that usually means more going out...which means more dressing up. It's a perfect time to either explore new products and techniques or bust out the dependable favourites. For the first time ever, at least in recent memory, I went to no events. In fact, I've been accused of becoming a recluse. I don't think it's so drastic but it is true that I do get out less; must be getting old. All that to say that my standout products this toss are mostly skincare related. Check out my keeks for the hauls. Click the links provided for more information.

The Beauty Breakdown | Soft Glam

Mavenz,
If you've followed my artistry, you'll have noticed that I shy away from colour on the eyes. I can definitely do a multi smoky or a cut crease look but my preference is as the title suggests: soft, pretty makeup with a focal point.

In my latest collab with Vecpict Photography, my taste is evident. I always ask the client/model what their outfit choices are, analyze their nail and hair colour and go from there.
Chanye is always easy to work with. We have worked together on small projects, shoots and events and she is one of the most gracious, decent beautiful ladies I have had the opportunity to slay!
That's not a norm in the local fashion industry and I'm pleased to say that she is moving on to bigger and better things! Well done Chan, much love and God bless you on your journey to the top.

Moden Cosmetics - The Rebirth

Mavenz!

It's absolutely unbelievable to us that so many people are still unaware that we have our own line of lipstick. We definitely have lots of work to do!
Allow me to introduce our 10 babies to you.
Follow our IG page @moden_cosmetics.
We launched Moden Cosmetics in late 2015 and since then our growth has progressed steadily.

Team Moden & Vecpict Photography - Lipstick Launch 2015
The line features 10 shades in two different formulas: creamy matte and liquid matte. The lipsticks are versatile and the colour range is varied.

Moden Cosmetics Creamy Mattes:
The packaging is attractive, a bullet encased in a matte black lipstick container, featuring a nonslip cap. When we tested this formula, we realised that while the feel on the lips was moisturizing the colour payoff was still substantial. This line is on sale now for $25BBD (reg. price: $35BBD)
Here are the shade names and descriptions:

Pencil Eyeliner Declutter

Or is really a collection post? Hhhhhmmmm

I have an affinity for pencil eyeliners. Maybe it's because gels scare me or liquid liners does gimme licks. Whatever the cause, I enjoy using them. Apparently I enjoy purchasing them even more.

This isn't a good thing cause as with all cream products, these things can dry out before you get to use them. What I'm trying to say is: no one needs all these pencil eyeliners. That said, I don't think I'll stop. Hold on. I have a reason. I prefer using these to powder eyeshadow. So that gives me a lil ease right?

I recommend pulling out your collection and having a swatch party ever so often. It really puts things into perspective.

I thought I had more purple eyeliners than anything else. And who needs so many black ones? Sigh.

The most disappointing were from that Marc Jacobs mini set. I've heard that his Highliner Gel formula has since been reformulated but at $25USD a pop I ain't inclined to find out. It must be noted …
