#Anti-Haul | What I'm Not Gonna Buy

Holiday 2016 releases are already out folks. The marketing beauty beast don't want us to have money no time atall atall. Please, let us make better purchasing decisions. There are some great budgeting tips here.

Pat McGrath Labs Lust 004 Lipstick Kit - $60USD

I'm totally for supporting Black women in the beauty industry - although her line is probably owned by Procter & Gamble - but $60?! nah Fam. The extra is fuh glitter and a clear lipgloss? Not when the lipstick alone is $25. p.s. I probably will get one of those.

Laura Mercier Fall In Love Face Illuminator Collection - $58USD image

Honest to God I got my eye on dis. Like fuhrealfuhreal; but I really shouldn't buy it for the same reasons I said about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits. Also each pan is approximately 1/3 of a full size Face Illuminator, so if my math is correct - which it could totally not be - this should cost $55. I dunno how they worked out that it's a $65 value.

It's so pretty though *sob*

Too Faced Christmas In New York Collection - $15 - $58USD

Is it just me or does it seem like Too Faced puts out the same tings every year?

May Lindstrom The Problem Solver - $90USD image

I'm all for skincare with high quality ingredients. I even have a few May Lindstrom items on the 'To Buy' list. But I'm not paying an exorbitant amount of money for a clay mask again. Nope. In all fairness, this product does have more than clay in it but that does make up the main ingredients.

"Fuller’s Earth Clay, Red Moroccan Rhassoul Clay, **Theobroma Cacao (Raw Cacao), Red Alaea Sea Salt, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Sodium Bicarbonate, Bamboo Carbon Charcoal Powder, *Vanilla Planifolia Bean, *Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower, *Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow) Root,***Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense), *Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola), *Archangelica (Angelica) Root, *Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon), *Myristica Fragans (Nutmeg), *Syzygium Aromaticum (Clove), *Curcuma Longa (Turmeric), *Capsicum Annuum (Cayenne) Pepper.

I think you could buy some clay from Healthy Kinks ($22BDS and under), add in some activated charcoal and mix them with honey. Yes, a DIY clarifying mask post is coming.

Healthy Kinks 8 oz Bentonite Clay -
$14 from Healthy Kinks #rep246

Natasha Denona All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer in Powder - $38USD

I just realised that these are also available on Nice. I'm just trying to reign in my highlighter purchasing. Trying.

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

Purified Lactic Acid: One of the most hydrating Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Lactic Acid exfoliates the surface layers of t…

2017 Top Five | Beauty Service Providers

Unlike my Influencers post the persons mentioned below are all local and I know them. If that makes me biased then you should take everything I'm about to say with a grain of salt.

Heidi Bowen of Moden Makeup

Let's get the obvious one out of the way shall we 😉 I've said before how much I've learned watching Heidi conduct her Workshops. Since then she has increased her skillset, restructured her modules and truly focused on knowledge sharing. Every participant departs feeling enlightened; emboldened to try something they once thought was daunting. No one leaves empty handed. This kindda thing speaks to me because I've attended many M.A.C classes and saw the value only in the products I was reimbursed. Not to say, the outing isn't a good time - especially if you go with friends - but some settings leave you more intimidated than excited. #TeamModen affiliations aside, I can see how Heidi has grown as a Beauty Educator. And fuh my one part I know any session booked…
