Sephora VIB Sale | Recommended Lipsticks

Lipstick is the bane of my existence.

I mean, I love to try different nail polish, concealer and pencil eye liners but yuh see lipsticks? It's like no order is complete with getting a new one. It's a legit problem. That's why I think you can trust our opinion on our Moden Cosmetics formula; we've tried a lot of lipsticks. A lot.

If you're in the market for getting some new lippies - at a discount - here are few of my formula recommendations.

NARS Audacious - $32USD

Fo sho! Pigmented, smooth, comfortable, pigmented (yes, I have to mention it twice) and they come with more product that the average lipstick. There are 35 shades to choose from on Sephora.com. You'll find something you like. Check out the videos in that post linked above.

Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon - $24USD

I only recently reminded you why these are worth it.

Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched - $22USD

Y'all gotta be tired hearing me talk about these.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting - $3…

Sephora VIB Sale | Recommended Value Sets

If it's one section I'm always on on Sephora.com it's that 'Value Set' page. Lordie! Regular readers know that I'm a big fan of value sets; it's a great way to try a brand for the first time or restock on your favourites in full or travel size. The Sephora VIB sale is fast approaching. It's usually 20% off for VIB Rouge and VIB, or just 15% for VIB...I can't remember. Follow us on Instagram where we update you on that kindda stuff.

Here are a few of my value set suggestions:

Bite Beauty Best Bite Redux - $25USD

I know I recently said that I'm not picking this up but I think you absolutely should if you've never tried this formula before. Not only is the product comfortable, pigmented and made with food grade ingredients; Bite's Matte Creme Lip Crayons stand up to de Buhbaydus heat unlike their Luminous Creme counterparts. This set is good value for money as Eshani breaks down below.

Real Techniques Brush Cleaning Palette vs. Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Mat

A lot of our makeup collection happens by natural progression right? Yuh buy a lot of products...then yuh gotta find effective storage. Yuh buy a lot of brushes...then yuh looking for the easiest way to clean them. I guess the beauty companies caught on to people bellyaching about how much of a chore it is to clean a mobbaton of brushes. How yuh hands does look like prunes after and how much water is wasted. And they sought to bring solutions to the market. This post compares two of them.

Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Mat - $32USD

Random Question

I know I can't be the only one.

Have you ever mistakenly picked up the wrong product? I mean: looked at what you wanted in the store and then like absentmindedly picked up the thing next to it? Well, that is the case with me and Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Genius.

I fully intended to purchase the Clear Brow Gel.

Don't ask me if it works cause I never used it. And I won't know either cause I'm pretty sure it's expired :( The claims: "Beauty Genius gel bonds, seals, and waterproofs powder makeup, loose pigment, loose shadows, micas and glitter. Beauty Genius is safe to use on the eyelids, face, lips and on the body." All that don't even matter cause it like it's no longer in production.

Let us know if you've ever tried it or if you've ever picked up a product accidentally.

p.s. for our international readers who may be wondering: "why didn't you just return it?" - I would have purchased this on a trip to New York since ABH do…

#Anti-Haul | Holiday 2016

Let me start with the same lament as last year: why are these 'holiday' sets being released so early? Lord lewwe try to enjoy the present nuh.

Anyho, I've already touched on a few sets that I won't be purchasing: anything from Too Faced (cause their stuff looks pretty much like last year's) and that gorgeous looking highlighter palette from Laura Mercier. Come to think of it, Laura Mercier Holiday 2016 offerings look a lot like what they did last year too. I guess that's a good thing for those of you who missed out.

On to specifics:

Anything from Tarte

Apart from me being disgusted with their greenwashing tactics and the fact that seemingly spend more on taking a clique of beauty vloggers to tropical vacations rather than investing in better products; I'm generally no longer impressed with Tarte. And their Holiday 2016 releases didn't do much to sway me. The one thing I was even remotely interested in was a blush palette...and that like it ain't for …

Full Face First Impressions

Along with the #MMWC I really wanted to start doing first impression posts to get me, well to get some of these products out of their boxes.

What I like about this process is what you initially gather versus what you end up using. It's interesting seeing what works, what doesn't and what doesn't work well together.

I did use some staples but I'll only give the beauty breakdown for the new products. Let's just categorize these as 'pass', 'fail' and 'undecided' for now. I'm sure the stellar ones you'll see later in favourites posts and the flops will have to be let go. black|Up Protective Primer SPF 25 - passCovergirl Ready, Set Gorgeous Fresh Complexion Oil Free Foundation '315 Tawny' - undecided; might be the wrong shadeM.A.C Studio Fix Perfecting Powder 'Dark' - pass; love the packagingNARS Dual-Intensity Blush 'Sexual Content' - undecided; I mostly bought it for the exterior packagingHourglass Ambient Lightin…

#MMWC Week Three | Smokey Eyes

If you don't know what #MMWC means read this post.

The whole purpose is to challenge yourself right? So de I n I, general non-eyeshadow wearer say this week we finna tackle a smokey eye. Who send me? Oh boy, did things ever go wrong but thankfully, nothing's really too precise with this type of look. And like all the pros said, yuh just gotta blend. NUFF!

I knew I wanted to use the 'Plum' Caviar Stick as a base but I hadn't thought out much else. Well, that's not so...I also knew that I wanted a pop of shimmer in the middle of my lids. That plan didn't really work out.

For the first time I also lined my upper lash line. I knew from a recent swatch party that the Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner 'Perfect Black' was pigmented and smooth. It did not disappoint; though I do find the process of applying product to that delicate area very odd.

I'm now realising that I used a good set of products for the first time yesterday. The By Terry Hya…
