Sheer Lipsticks

Starting off #LipSwatchWeek with one of my favourites: sheer lipsticks. I've explained before why I'm a fan. Here are a few more formulas.

Marc Jacobs New Nudes Sheer Lip Gel '110 Role Play'

These got a lot of hype last year and I kinda understand why. The packaging is unique, the formula is great and this colour in particular is right up my alley. There's also that light vanilla scent that everyone has come to love.

Christian Louboutin Sheer Voile Lip Colour 'Rose Du Desert 217S'

I know. I know. These are ridiculously priced. But it's like paying for a piece of art, right? This shade makes this product a great purse lipstick...as long as you're not going through any metal detectors 😊

Guerlain Rouge G Exceptional Complete Lip Colour '66 Gracia'

While the previous lipstick was the most expensive, this one definitely feels like the most luxurious. The packaging is heavy and fancy. The scent is that typical "sophisticated lady floral/baby powder". Thankfully it doesn't linger. This formula is the most pigmented of the ones mentioned in this post.

Guerlain KissKiss Roselip 'Crazy Bouquet R329'

This has the same Guerlain scent but is marketed as a "high shine finish". Definitely another purse companion.

Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer '07 Sugar Plum Pop'

How ironic is it that M.A.C is discontinuing certain formulas of their lipsticks while Estee Lauder, Tom Ford Beauty and Clinique are constantly launching different iterations of theirs? All those brands are owned by Estee Lauder.

I love how this formula applies: very smooth, so much so it almost gives a plumping appearance. It'll take a few passes to see colour pay off - that might just be how this performs with my own lip colour. Unlike the other lipsticks mentioned in this post, these are available locally at Cave Shepherd.

What's your take on sheer lipsticks? Would you opt for a gloss instead?

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

Unlike my Influencers post the persons mentioned below are all local and I know them. If that makes me biased then you should take everything I'm about to say with a grain of salt.

Heidi Bowen of Moden Makeup

Let's get the obvious one out of the way shall we 😉 I've said before how much I've learned watching Heidi conduct her Workshops. Since then she has increased her skillset, restructured her modules and truly focused on knowledge sharing. Every participant departs feeling enlightened; emboldened to try something they once thought was daunting. No one leaves empty handed. This kindda thing speaks to me because I've attended many M.A.C classes and saw the value only in the products I was reimbursed. Not to say, the outing isn't a good time - especially if you go with friends - but some settings leave you more intimidated than excited. #TeamModen affiliations aside, I can see how Heidi has grown as a Beauty Educator. And fuh my one part I know any session booked…
