Would I Repurchase? Lancome Grandiose Mascara

After I fell in love with Hypnose Drama I tell myself Lancome mascaras like dem is de 🔌 So when this Grandiose was released with much hype I was excited.

Lancome says: "The 1st swan-neck™ mascara is bent to work with the shape of your face for unprecedented access to all lashes. Corner-to-corner, root-to-tip giving the ultimate in length, lift and volume. Only mascara focused on 3 aspects: Wand + Brush + Formula (most only address brush and formula).
Patented swan-neck ™ wand allows you to reach every lash from corner to corner, working with the contours of the face and eye Elastomer molded brush in monoi flower shape allows for maximum and even deposit of the formula, even the smallest lashes are coated.

Formula is ultra black glossy, quick drying and is the only formula with rose-cell extract so lashes remain soft and supple.

Formula contains less waxes for intense color with no smudging or flaking through the day.
"

It took a while for this to reach our shores but once it did I was all over that.

It's a gorgeous looking tube. It can even stand up on your vanity. As advertised, the bend in the mascara wand does allow for greater application control. The rubber bristles are uniquely arranged and taper at the tip. The tip itself isn't as fine so again the angle really does assist with reaching the inner lashes. I agree that the product does provide lift and some length (as I've said before, my lashes are long so take my word on length results with a grain of salt) but it's not until a couple weeks into use that this mascara offers anything resembling volume. The shape of the wand does also make it useful for lower lash line application.

Initially I was very disappointed with this product. It's not worth the hype in my opinion.

Not that it's a bad product (once it really gets going) but it isn't worth the money. I purchased this for $86BDS DP from Cave Shepherd. It's not worth that. It's on Lancome's website for $32USD.

The formula does have a distinctive perfumey scent, like most L'Oreal owned brands do, but it doesn't linger after application. I did not experience any flaking or smudging. The colour I have 'Noir Mirifique' didn't strike me as overly pigmented...until I went to wash it off. This takes a bit of work to get rid of all the residue; I'd suggest using an oil cleanser or cleansing balm.

So yeah: an ok product but not worth the repurchase.

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

It's A Dupe!

posted on our Facebook page April 12, 2013 "DUPE ALERT: M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Dark vs Maybelline Fit Me! in 355 Coconut. Both look the same applied to the face and are the same texture when swatched. The Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is bigger by 1 gram but the Fit Me! is significantly cheap... *ahem* more "inexpensive". There is one shade darker in the M.A.C version but 355 is the darkest shade in the Maybelline. (I'm NC50). If you go through a lot of face powder it's worth a shot - LR"
Talk about a throwback!
I watched a dupe video on YouTube recently where this comparison was mentioned and it reminded me that I had the same thought a while ago. The finish on the skin is identical. Since this original post M.A.C has changed the packaging on their Mineralize line and Maybelline has rebranded/re categorised the Fit Me! range into: Dewy/Set + Smooth and Matte + Poreless.
M.A.C says: "A slow-baked powder with 77-Mineral Complex that provid…
