Faves In Five | Blush Brushes

Feels like I ain't do a favourites post in forever so I say lemme get back on the horse. Looking at my brush collection recently I thought: another declutter is due. That lead to realising that they're some brushes I won't part with no matter how big (read: ridiculous) my collection gets.

Here are the best blush I've used to date:

I've found that these more coarse natural hair angled brushes are great for working with compact formulas like the NARS Dual-Intensity or M.A.C Extra Dimension. A cheaper alternative that I also recommend is the bdellium tools Studio 942 Slanted Contour

This one I love primarily for its size. I appreciate the blending control I have especially when I'm adding another blush shade just to the apples of my cheeks.

Hakuhodo J511BkSL

This has a smaller surface area than the Zoeva and, more importantly, much softer brush hairs. The quality of the Hakuhodo J series is excellent value for the price. I like using this with buildable formulas like the Clinique Cheek Pop/Blush Pops

I have loved this brush from April 2013 til now. I had to get one for Sharalee so she could appreciate its splendor. The combination of the shape, density and softness of the brush hairs makes this an all around winner in my books. I highly recommend this brush if you're a fan of blush 'draping'.

Sephora PRO Airbrush Blush Brush #54

Speaking of Sharalee, she's the one that put me on to this baby 😀 It's kinda similar to the Louise Young one in shape though not density. I appreciate the versatility of these brushes to deposit pigment and blend on my slender face.

After multiple uses I can tell you that these brushes hold up well. Only the M.AC 109 has shed a little. The only real complaint I have is that I'd prefer if the M.AC and Sephora brushes had shorter handles. That wouldn't matter to anyone who doesn't apply their makeup right up in the mirror due to poor eyesight 😄

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

Unlike my Influencers post the persons mentioned below are all local and I know them. If that makes me biased then you should take everything I'm about to say with a grain of salt.

Heidi Bowen of Moden Makeup

Let's get the obvious one out of the way shall we 😉 I've said before how much I've learned watching Heidi conduct her Workshops. Since then she has increased her skillset, restructured her modules and truly focused on knowledge sharing. Every participant departs feeling enlightened; emboldened to try something they once thought was daunting. No one leaves empty handed. This kindda thing speaks to me because I've attended many M.A.C classes and saw the value only in the products I was reimbursed. Not to say, the outing isn't a good time - especially if you go with friends - but some settings leave you more intimidated than excited. #TeamModen affiliations aside, I can see how Heidi has grown as a Beauty Educator. And fuh my one part I know any session booked…
