Summer Standouts

It feels strange to talk about beauty products with all that's going on in the Caribbean. Our neighbours are going through some seriously trying times and I implore you to give whatever you can. 🙏

I didn't even realise that this was a running theme. Last year's was especially good since it featured some of my favourite combinations. Like last year, makeup seems to have taken a backseat this Summer.

Summer 2017 Favourites -

There's only one item here that surprised me...but let me not get ahead of myself.
  • Y'all know exfoliators are a must in my skin and body care routine so the Bath & Body Works 'Lavender & Sandalwood' Clay Body Scrub and Coco Shea 'Coconut' Richly Nourishing Body Buff (thanks to the Mistress!) should come as no real shocker. Both smell amazing; again no shocker since regular readers know I'm a firm aromatherapy believer. Visit Inyouvations in Sheraton for all your Bath & Body Works products.
  • Continuing on the Bath & Body Works train, their 'At The Beach' Fine Fragrance Mist is practically Summer in a bottle. "A refreshing, vacation-ready blend of white frangipani, toasted coconut & bergamot waters essenced with a cool, saltwater breeze". Sounds about right.
  • Son & Park Beauty Water. Y'all sick of me mentioning products pre-dedicated review? I sickka myself. I did say I was gonna buy this though. Spoiler alert: it's Holy Grail status.
  • Wayne Goss 'Airbrush'. It's in stock again; $35 is a great price for such quality. I use it with setting powder on small areas of my face, highlighter and blush.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder 'Radiant Light' -
  • Shiseido Perfect Cleansing Oil. Shoutout to Sharalee for introducing me to this one. I'm now a cleansing oil believer.
  • Revlon Nearly Naked '060 Dark'. Another Sharalee recommendation. While I haven't been wearing much makeup there are some days I needed to reduce the shine. Although this is a lightweight powder is does offer some coverage. Between this and the Maybelline Fit Me powder I doubt I'll purchase a M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural ever again.
  • RGB Cosmetics 'Monarch'. This brand makes some of the smoothest polishes that I've ever had the pleasure to use. Head to Pure Source Barbados and try one.
RGB Cosmetics 'Monarch' -
  • Belif Hungarian Water Essence. This is the surprise item. I had pretty much written off belif as a 'dry skin line'. But if you didn't know: oily skin can be dehydrated too. This is the lightest serum I have ever used. If you have oily skin you know that that's like magic. "An instant, lightweight hydration recharger serum that is powerfully effective for deep, lasting hydration." Yup.
  • Dr. Jart+ UV Sun Fluid Broad Spectrum SPF30. Another treasure for oily skin: a sunscreen that doesn't make your face greasy.
I hope you've been taking care of yourself.

Let us know what you've been loving all summer long in the comments.

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

With Key Ingredients:

Purified Lactic Acid: One of the most hydrating Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Lactic Acid exfoliates the surface layers of t…

It's A Dupe!

Long time no dupe.

Corny? I know. I try.

Faithful readers would have seen me rave about the Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, a.k.a Face Cement, numerous times. Well, we have a dupe: The Make Up For Ever (MUFE) Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. I knew it instantly. So instantly that I've used the MUFE twice and decided that it's ridiculous to keep both since they are the same.

You can read all about the Becca primer in the link above so I'm just going to talk about the MUFE version here.

Can you tell which is which? No? Well, neither can I.
