Another long overdue post 😌

I've been raving about this from 2016 and I'm still a believer.

2017 Top Five | Beauty Service Providers

Unlike my Influencers post the persons mentioned below are all local and I know them. If that makes me biased then you should take everything I'm about to say with a grain of salt.

Heidi Bowen of Moden Makeup

Let's get the obvious one out of the way shall we πŸ˜‰ I've said before how much I've learned watching Heidi conduct her Workshops. Since then she has increased her skillset, restructured her modules and truly focused on knowledge sharing. Every participant departs feeling enlightened; emboldened to try something they once thought was daunting. No one leaves empty handed. This kindda thing speaks to me because I've attended many M.A.C classes and saw the value only in the products I was reimbursed. Not to say, the outing isn't a good time - especially if you go with friends - but some settings leave you more intimidated than excited. #TeamModen affiliations aside, I can see how Heidi has grown as a Beauty Educator. And fuh my one part I know any session booked…

Mask Monday | Farmacy Honey Potion

Farmacy calls this a "renewing antioxidant hydration mask".

What the jar also says is it's a "warming massage mask". Well I did not see that the first time I put this on and I swore my nose was gonna fall off.

From their site
"What it is
This warming massage mask nourishes and revitalizes the skin for a glowing, smooth complexion.

It gently warms and transforms into a rich cream as it’s massaged into the face, soothing and revitalizing the skin.

Size: 4.1 oz | 117 g

Good for
Dry skin
Fine lines and wrinkles
Dullness and uneven texture
Why it’s special
An intensely moisturizing combination of honey (a natural humectant used since ancient times), propolis (a healing antiseptic found in beehives) and amino acid-rich royal jelly, it enhances skin renewal for a younger appearance.

This super hydrating mask with natural honey sugars is rich in amino acids and essential B vitamins.

The ingenious magnetic spatula attaches to the top so you’ll never lose it.

2017 Top Five | Makeup Tools

Every artisan needs proper tools.

First off, I'm still loving the brush I mentioned last year.

Now that's out of the way...

Wayne Goss Airbrush($35USD)

I got this one in my last Beautylish Lucky Bag and liked it so much I was gonna by another. Good thing I waited cause Mr. Goss decided to ride a current beauty trend and release a rose gold version. It's great for powder (not baked gelee) highlight and targeted powder application.

Sigma 3DHD Blender ($15USD)

All credit to Heidi for introducing me to this one. This is great for loose powder application. "Inspired by our best-selling 3DHD® brushes, this blending sponge reaches every contour of the face with ease. Prime, conceal, sculpt and highlight with liquids, creams and powders for truly high-definition skin. Use the edges, flat surfaces and points of the contour sponge to ensure seamless, all-over coverage. Take blending to the edge with Sigma’s one-of-a-kind, latex-free 3DHD™ Blender." I've said repeatedly t…

Mask Monday | Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask

Just catching up on all these outstanding promises 😁😁😁

To make my Top Five yuh know it gaww be seyin serious. #TeamModen loves clay masks as y'all know. Mud masks give the same clarifying results without the potentially harsh drying. Now us oily skin folk embrace that "drawing out" feeling but truly, we need not completely strip our skin of its natural oils. I think this Irish Moor Mud Mask is a very happy medium. This is a review and not a first impression since I've completely used a mini of this product before.

From the website: "Purifying, decongesting and hydrating mask with odorless Irish Moor Mud helps draw out dirt, oil and grime as it infuses skin with moisture, vitamins, essential minerals and potent anti-oxidant benefits. With the highest level of organic content in the world, 9,000 year-old black Moor Mud is harvested by hand from the Irish countryside and combined with Hijiki Seaweed, Volcanic Ash and Activated Charcoal for powerful cleansing whi…

2017 Top Five | Skincare

Firstly let me state that I loved all the skincare mentioned in the samples post. I just wanted to bring you some products that I purchased in the full size (or bigger than travel size).

Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask ($58USD 5 oz.)

There's no Mask Monday on this yet but there will be. I went through a mini of this early last year and was too happy to get this 1.7 oz in a value set. This product gives the benefits of a clay mask without the excessive skin drying.

Therapi Honey Skincare Orange Blossom Honey Gel Cleanser (25.50GBP 3.4 fl. oz.)

This is an excellent gentle cleanser that smells great. A separate post on this is coming too πŸ˜‰ I purchased this from Pure Source Barbados but I don't believe they're still stocking the brand.

Son & Park Beauty Water ($30USD 11.49 oz.)

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Intensive Recovery Ampoules ($287BDS DP 60 Ampoules)

This hey much so that I almost didn't buy it. But then I thought, the s…

Sephora VIB Haul November 2017

It just occurred to me that I've shopped this sale for four years in a row. 2014, 2015, 2016 and now. One difference this toss; I was in the US when the sale started. So the first part of this haul actually took place in store.

Since I was in a store I was given a tote. And yeah it's January so I have used most of these by now. Regular readers would recognize the Son & Park Beauty Water. Yes, that's my second bottle. I was standing in front of this in The Grove and I just felt an overwhelming sense of dread when I thought about not picking it up. Sephora not shipping to mail forwarders anymore is really messing up my mojo. The only items I haven't gotten into yet are the Sephora Algae Face Mask and the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. Let me know what you want a review on 😊

When I got home I felt like I left a lot of things I wanted behind. Typical case of tuh much tings, too little money. This year Sephora let VIB Rouge members shop all the sale dates (as should be f…

2017 Top Five | Influencers

Everybody appreciates a solid recommendation. That's why #TeamModen is so popular right? πŸ˜‰

I was thinking about the purchases I made last year and the things that I still want to get. How did I hear about them? What convinced me to part with my money? Besides the constant hunt for the best...Below are the top five beauty connoisseurs that inevitably wreck havoc on my bank account.

Stephanie Nicole

Of course, cause I mention her in almost every post. I appreciate her approach to the beauty industry. She's a no bullshit 'I-work-for-my-money-so-I-don't-have-to-kiss-brands'-asses' kindda woman. She checks ingredients and does her research. I pay special attention to her reviews on skincare products and she recently gave us a good tip on a highlighter brush. Per her recommendation I've purchased the: Sunday Riley Good Genes, Youth To The People Age Prevention Superfood Cleanser (mini), Korres Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser, May Coop Raw Sauce (mini), May L…

The Makeup Show L.A. 2017

I know, I know...I get back eva since. The task was trying to figure out if to separate the experience post from the haul. Let's lump it all together shall we? Prepare to scroll.

Sharalee thinks that this show had more of an uptight crowd. There were a lot of celebrity -and celebrated - professional makeup artists. Still, I didn't get the vibe that is was less friendly than New York. The Makeup Show on a whole has a more serious feel than IMATS. The Pros are about knowledge sharing and networking. Of course the brands are there to sell products but that doesn't seem to be the frenzied focus. Lots of shots are taken at Instagram trends and click bait marketing 😁These are real lovers of the craft that don't take kindly to fly-by-night 'online influencers'. That said, the brands have embraced social media and a few current marketing mediums #obvs
L.A. didn't have a Beauty Tour like the New York version but there was a Beauty Brunch on the day before the Show …
