2017 Top Five | Influencers

Everybody appreciates a solid recommendation. That's why #TeamModen is so popular right? 😉

I was thinking about the purchases I made last year and the things that I still want to get. How did I hear about them? What convinced me to part with my money? Besides the constant hunt for the best...Below are the top five beauty connoisseurs that inevitably wreck havoc on my bank account.

Stephanie Nicole

Of course, cause I mention her in almost every post. I appreciate her approach to the beauty industry. She's a no bullshit 'I-work-for-my-money-so-I-don't-have-to-kiss-brands'-asses' kindda woman. She checks ingredients and does her research. I pay special attention to her reviews on skincare products and she recently gave us a good tip on a highlighter brush. Per her recommendation I've purchased the: Sunday Riley Good Genes, Youth To The People Age Prevention Superfood Cleanser (mini), Korres Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser, May Coop Raw Sauce (mini), May Lindstrom The Jasmine Garden, Wayne Goss #10 and #19, Perricone MD Omega 3 Dietary Supplements, Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical get the picture. She raves about an Obagi cleanser that I have my eye on.

Hauler baller 😍 Crystal really got into skincare in the last year or so. Her Instagram is full of products that she's purchased and what brands have sent to her. She tries a lot of products and gives us the lowdown. Unlike with Stephanie, Crystal and I share a similar skin tone and type. I also appreciate her foundation and primer reviews. Crystal encouraged me to purchase the SKII Facial Treatment Essence, Paula's Choice skin care, Tarte Maracuja C-brighter Eye Treatment and too many lip products to name. Both her and Stephanie have me itching to try the Jordan Samuel Skin line.

Michele Wang

This lady is a relatively new addition to my YouTube watch list. Her and her buddy Glam Dr. Mona Khan are badddd for the wallet 😁Ok seriously; I enjoy watching mature women who enjoy luxury makeup and will tell you whether it's worth the price or not. Due to Michele I have some items from Surratt Beauty, Gucci, Tom Ford and the brushes from Sonia G. on my Wish List.

The Fancy Face

Our Caribbean Sistren! Tina gives excellent recommendations because she's a collector at heart. She loves eyeshadows and foundations. She not afraid to the try the "out there" colours. Her lip swatch playlist is an excellent resource. Tina is a resource pun a whole actually. I've purchased the: Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation, Becca Light Chasing Highlighter 'Champagne Dream Flashes Bellini' and numerous Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipsticks based on her rave reviews. She recently recommended a number of brushes that have intrigued me.

Samantha Ravndahl

Samantha, like the other lovely ladies mentioned, is a straight shooter. She's very relatable and does not follow status quo just because. I like her style of face makeup; nothing over done. Although she young yuh could see she has her head on. Via her channel, I've become more aware of Nudestix and Smith Cosmetics. In this post, you'll see the brushes I purchased. I also recently bought the Nude(art)ist Box Creator's Palette which Samantha (and other beauty influencers) collaborated on. If you're a regular Periscope user you should follow her there.

Most honourable mentions: EmilyNoel83. Just recently, I've started to collect those Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolors that she's been raving about. She also gave us the excellent tip of using the L'Oreal Infallible Paints Metallic Liquid Lipsticks (especially the lighter shades) as lipstick toppers.

Caroline Hirons. Y'all know I've been going on and on about her for years. The Skincare Boss. Above all else, she put me on to the Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 Original "1970"; aka The Best Exfoliating Toner Ever Made.

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.
