2017 Top Five | Manicures

I know; it's February. But I'm not done with these 2017 recaps so here we go.

Last year I got very few professional manicures. Last year I had to cut my nails more than ever. Moral of the story: make sure to #treatyoself πŸ˜‰

Zoya 'Mallory'

Gorgeous one coat cream. I believe I still applied two though. Great as a mani or pedi colour. It's still available on Zoya's site.

RGB Cosmetics 'Oxblood'

Forgive the polish on the cuticles; I was too excited to show the shine of this polish. That's three thin coats with no top coat. Stunning. A few RGB Cosmetics are still available from Pure Source Barbados (in store).

Essie 'Style Cartel'

Somewhere along the line I decided to compare "inky blue" nail polishes. As you would have noticed, the post isn't up yet πŸ˜’This polish is definitely gonna be in there though. It's still listed on Essie's site.

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Footpath'

Sadly Rescue Beauty Lounge has closed their doors but before they did I purchased this unsuspecting beauty. I didn't think it would suit my complexion but sometimes yuh gotta take risks man.

Zoya 'Levi'

This is shoutout to Zoya Pixie Dust formula in general. Textured polishes are a great quick event-ready manicure. They do tend to chip faster than cream polishes but it's a small price to pay for the suburb drying time. 'Levi' is one of the 'finer' textures from the Pixie Dust range.

Special mention:

Orly 'Glowstick'

Gotta shout out this manicure cause Karolynn hooked me up! On my own, I don't think I could make this polish look this good. Especially without a white base coat. Some things yuh just gotta leave to the Pros. Look at that nail shape yuh! Those are all mine 😍

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

#Anti-Haul | My Brand Blacklist

In keeping with the Brand Awareness series, I was planning to do a Beauty Brands Drama series and discuss just that. The idea was scrapped cause really, I like to laugh and ting at dem tings but they don't truly matter in the grand scheme of life. What does matter though is that we be smart consumers. Let's not fall into mob mentality - whether for or against. Let's spend our money wisely and less susceptible to marketing ploys.

By all means, spend your money how you want. Like whichever brand you choose. Rep whomever influencer you "love". This is just my 10¢.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics

I bought one of his liquid lipsticks; I wore it once and then I threw it away (I didn't like the scent). Yuh see, I actually believe that this man is just an entertainer. He likes to say things for shock value. He likes the limelight...loves the attention. What he actually believes? I don't know if we'll ever really know. What I know fuh sure though is that he ain't tu…
