Faves In Five | May 2019

Crop Over is upon us. The heat is already stifling. Let's stay cool and hydrated.

During my unplanned break I've been using things 😆

Fresh Sugar Coconut Hydrating Lip Balm

Kelsee said this smelled amazing and she was so right.

"The rich, cushiony formula coats lips with a protective veil that smoothes and comforts on contact while delivering a velvety sheen and addictive flavour inspired by coconut cream." I'm still working out the top five balms in my stash but this is a contender.

Speaking of hydration...

CeraVe Healing Ointment

Is it only me that feet getting crusty as I get older? Here I told you that I'm no stranger to moisturizer but lawwwddd. This 'skin protectant' works great on my feet. The active ingredient is 46.5% petrolatum.

Mahalo Skin Care Rare Indigo

I didn't try this brand in 2018 but it din gine pass me this year. Beautylish made it easier once they started carrying the line. My interest was peaked by Tara but my appreciation truly came only recently while dealing with a side effect of heat rash. They aren't kidding about the hydration benefits.

Sonia G. 'Face One'

This is great powder brush. Pressed or loose it just buffs product into the skin seamlessly. I even love it for finishing powders to meld everything together. Now $75USD is a pretty penny but think of it as a lifetime investment.

"About Face One

Designed by beauty blogger and makeup brush expert Sonia G. for mineral powder foundations, Face One is a fluffy powder brush with velvety natural bristles. Face One features the perfect size, shape, grip, and density for blending powders of all types to a smooth, poreless finish without disturbing makeup underneath.

“This was the very first brush I wanted to work on. Finding the perfect combination of density, softness, and material was so important.” — Sonia G.

Pat McGrath Labs MatteTrance 'Guinevere'

Auntie Pat's matte lipstick formula is stunning. The colours are pigmented, they last, the packaging is beautiful. Yeah yeah we're largely paying for the name but chalk it up to art.

Let us know your recent favourites in the comments; and stay hydrated.

  1. A red lippie by sacha is my top fave...hello boys! Boy I didn't know what I was missing before lol. As you said this heat is a killer, so I'm really not using much full face foundation products. I'm also using soaps from @naturalskinhealers on IG in my skincare regime in addition to my the Ordinary products.

    1. I've heard good things about those Sacha lipsticks...lord I shouldn't buy any more lipsticks.
      Thanks for sharing!

  2. Talk about heat! I am here dying as we speak! Believe or not one of my favourite products right now is a $5 Jordana eyebrow pencil. The "dark brown" shade is dark enough to show up on me without looking too harsh or too grey. The consistency is also great as it still applies well even though I am sweating. I find the wax-type pencil dont work for me at all as I am sweating straight out of the shower lol.

    1. Girl it vicious.
A $5 pencil you say...hhhhhmmmm *adds to list*
      Thanks for sharing!

Sampled Out | Perfumes

Well howdy to a flaming 2020 💣

Ok, let's remain positive and do what we have to to beat this thing.

If you're looking for a brief escape from the onslaught of bad news, #nojudgementzone here. Let me hop back into this blogging thing for a much needed source of distraction and hopefully; a lil product information.

We've never really talked about perfumes before so let's do that:

Maison Margiela REPLICA 'Dancing On The Moon' 0.04 fl. oz.

Description: "Dancing On The Moon is an invitation to an extraterrestrial escape.
The fragrance delicately combines a bouquet of white flowers with a soft mineral side.
White Jasmine flower is lifted by aldehydes and moonflower notes.
As the perfume evolves, the warmer notes of ambergris, musk and vanilla emerge.

Feel the weightlessness of your body slip away from reality.
Your ethereal moves cast pale shadows on the lunar landscape.
A gracious defiance.

This bright Eau de Parfum is part of the Replica Fantasies Collection.

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.
