Declutter | Eye Stuff

Happy New Year 🎉🎆

This is your ever-so-often reminder to get rid of things that no longer serve you. Unused makeup, split ends, clothes that don't fit, toxic friendships, useless men, self doubt...whatever.

I knew I had a few pencil eyeliners coming in the mail so I had to make room.

January 2020 eye product declutter -

My last eyeliner declutter was really in 2016? Anyway, I had to get rid of some dried up products. It's so sad when you don't utilize product before it expires 😭 Let this be a reminder to shop your stash regularly. Everything in the photo above is trash. What a waste.

January 2020 eye product declutter -

There were a few items I was able to pass on. This exercise has shown me that I should not buy any more black pencil eyeliners...well, none period but I am who I am.

Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner minis -

Fuh sure I done buying Marc Jacobs gel eyeliners. The packaging is trash; these dry out in a heartbeat. Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-on pencil eyeliner packaging is superior. I've had some of them for eons and they still work. While the price has increased over the years they still aren't at Marc Jacobs $26USD level.

Also be weary of these "natural" brands. Parabens have been demonized of late but ahhhh we need preservatives in our products so they last. Especially for the price we pay! These Ilia products were great while they lasted. Sadly, there was plenty of product of left but alas, the smell went off.

The Estee Edit Eye Kohls -

The Estee Edit line didn't last as long as a snowcone in Town but they did have some great products. Shadow sticks finna be the death of me 😂 I passed on the khaki one cause I have similar colours in another formulas.

Urban Decay Troublemaker Eyeshadow palette -

Last up, the Urban Decay Troublemaker palette. Absolutely nothing wrong with this product I just have too many eyeshadow palettes. This was a Hautelook 1 steal and I have very little willpower.

Soooooo here we are. New year. New decade. What are you planning to improve on this year? Who's attempting a no buy? 👀 Give us the deets in the comments.

  1. I second the Urban Decay 24/7 and Estee Edit liners. The latter especially as they can double as shadow sticks. So underrated but so good.

  2. New year, new low buy attempt. I bought nearly all the new la girl neon liners so I'll be using them up as a pop of colour in the waterline in my neutral looks. I do own one but colourpop too for about 3yrs or so & it's still going firm. Same creaminess as the day i bought it

    1. WOW. That's amazing I gotta try one of those Colourpop ones...well when I ever need to buy another eyeliner *ahem* never *ahem*
I have two of those L.A. Girl ones that I have yet to open :(

  3. This post inspired me to clean up my makeup stash - granted it isn't big but it included a few items I hadn't touched in years!

Sampled Out | Perfumes

Well howdy to a flaming 2020 💣

Ok, let's remain positive and do what we have to to beat this thing.

If you're looking for a brief escape from the onslaught of bad news, #nojudgementzone here. Let me hop back into this blogging thing for a much needed source of distraction and hopefully; a lil product information.

We've never really talked about perfumes before so let's do that:

Maison Margiela REPLICA 'Dancing On The Moon' 0.04 fl. oz.

Description: "Dancing On The Moon is an invitation to an extraterrestrial escape.
The fragrance delicately combines a bouquet of white flowers with a soft mineral side.
White Jasmine flower is lifted by aldehydes and moonflower notes.
As the perfume evolves, the warmer notes of ambergris, musk and vanilla emerge.

Feel the weightlessness of your body slip away from reality.
Your ethereal moves cast pale shadows on the lunar landscape.
A gracious defiance.

This bright Eau de Parfum is part of the Replica Fantasies Collection.

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.
