#FlashbackFriday | IMATS Toronto 2019

IMATS Toronto 2019 - www.modenmakeup.com

After not attending this trade show since 2015, we decided to give International Make-up Artist Trade Show (IMATS) another try; in a whole different country.

CN Tower Toronto - www.modenmakeup.com

It was my first time visiting Canada, so sightseeing was a must but of course we'd take any opportunity to attend a beauty tradeshow.

By our standards, we got there late. So imagine our surprise when we had covered the exhibitors in about three hours. The event was held in one of the exhibit halls of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on September 28 and 29, 2019.

A lot more brands were there; I wasn't even familiar with all the names. Still, it wasn't as big their New York offering. The tradeshow was well laid out and at that time in the afternoon it was still a little busy. An attendant told us that there were bigger crowds in the morning.  It was great to see NARS exhibiting again and also a pleasure to see Benefit Cosmetics have a booth. By the time we got to the NARS booth some of their newer releases had sold out. Thinking back, that's good to hear because some exhibitors felt like crowds are getting smaller and smaller at these kind of events.

Clionadh Cosmetics was on my must try list. A lot of YouTubers rave about their eyeshadows; they're definitely making waves in the indie makeup market. Clionadh is a Toronto based company and I think it was their first time at a tradeshow.

That photo does their beautiful eyeshadows no justice. Check them out on Instagram. Also, take a look a Brush Tower; another small company.

In addition to swatching and shopping, we enjoy talking to industry insiders and brands at these events. A familiar face is Kevin James Bennett. I didn't ask for a photo when we shared an elevator at The Makeup Show L.A. but  I worked up the courage this time 😁

So what did I buy? Check out the haul on Periscope. I've been loving that Bioderma spray and storing natural haired eye brushes in the Brush Tower.

Well howdy to a flaming 2020 💣

Ok, let's remain positive and do what we have to to beat this thing.

If you're looking for a brief escape from the onslaught of bad news, #nojudgementzone here. Let me hop back into this blogging thing for a much needed source of distraction and hopefully; a lil product information.

We've never really talked about perfumes before so let's do that:

Maison Margiela REPLICA 'Dancing On The Moon' 0.04 fl. oz.

Description: "Dancing On The Moon is an invitation to an extraterrestrial escape.
The fragrance delicately combines a bouquet of white flowers with a soft mineral side.
White Jasmine flower is lifted by aldehydes and moonflower notes.
As the perfume evolves, the warmer notes of ambergris, musk and vanilla emerge.

Feel the weightlessness of your body slip away from reality.
Your ethereal moves cast pale shadows on the lunar landscape.
A gracious defiance.

This bright Eau de Parfum is part of the Replica Fantasies Collection.

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.
