New Series: 'Would I Repurchase?'

YouTube  has created a culture in the beauty community of showing hauls, reviewing products and then showing 'empties' videos. I'm sure you would agree, that the true indication of if a products works for you is: 1. when you use it all, and 2. when you choose to pay your hard earned money for it again; i.e. repurchase. To continue the updates to the numerous products we have posted on our  facebook  page, I started this series that will briefly give you the scoop on if a product is worth it. Let's start with mascara. As you know, I went from this amount: posted May 7, 2012 on our  facebook  page to this amount of mascara to review in a ridiculously short amount of time. posted April 5, 2013 on our  facebook  page And I've bought more since, so we're in for the long haul. Please note: mascara is a very subjective product since it depends on what lashes you have and what you want from a mascara. Things I love you may hate and vi

May Favourites - Lip Combo

The May Favourites videos are  live ! You know we get excited so it had to spilt into  two. Similar to the  foundation  post, I wanted to let you know about this awesome lip product combination. J olie Cosmetics  lip gloss 'Stiletto' and Jordana Quickliner 'Bordeaux' At  Moden Makeup  we're huge fans of Jolie Cosmetics; they're pigmented and affordable. Jolie's lipsticks and lipglosses contain more product than M.A.C lipsticks and lipglasses for half the price! I was so stunned by this lipgloss the first time I tried it that I had to  keek  - check out how it looks on my lips in that video -Shaniqua. Shaniqua is the owner of Jolie Cosmetics and she is very customer oriented. We wish her every success. I purchased the Jordana lip liner from #1 Beauty Supply without thinking too much about the colour. There are so many raves about this product on YouTube that I just had to try one. The Quickliner formula is retractable so you don't hav

May Favourites - Foundation

Firstly, if you're not subscribed to  Moden Makeup  on YouTube you need to do so. Tuhnow! *taps foot* No, but seriously we're giving you information and laughs...that's a win win. But I digress, shortly our May Favourites video will be posted and I just wanted to give you a bit more information on some of the products featured. As the title states, this post is about the Iman Second to None Cream to Powder Foundation. I have it in the shade Earth 2. I purchased this in Jamaica but it is available locally in Cave Shepherd and certain Harrison's locations. I'm ashamed to say, I had this product for quite a while before I tried it - #beautybloggerlife -, thus my shocking first impression video on  keek . As I stated there, I am very impressed. The formula is easy to apply with your fingers or a sponge, it blends well and as the name says it dries down to a matte - not mannequin matte, a healthy looking one - powder finish. It should be mentioned that this pro

Burt's Bees Lip Balm

Display shelf in Collins (June 2012) Since I posted the photo above on our  facebook  on June 14th last year I've used three different types of this product. If that wasn't hint enough let me just spell it out; I'm still a fan. What I appreciate most about these lip balms is that they're moisturising and inexpensive. I've only ever tried the 'stick' packaging, which is very easy to apply. Initially I could only find Burt's Bees in Bio Beauty but now Collins carries a wide variety of the brand. A selection of their lip balms is also available in Jenn's. My current formula of choice Purchased from Bio Beauty is the Ultra Conditioning one. The only con to these lip balms is that the formula is soft and in this Barbadian heat that can lend to melting. I recommend these lip balms to everyone - yes gents, you too! - since they contain no SPF, thus people with extra sensitive lips can use them. Burt's Bees lip balm featured in my Ra

My New 'Do'

This post is just to assist the numerous ladies out there asking about my hair. I purchase all my 5A virgin Remy hair from Marie of Magnific Hair . What I appreciate is her commitment to the quality of her products. In addition to shopping around for the most reliable suppliers, she puts initial shipments through rigorous testing - microwaves them and all. As if that isn't enough, Marie also recommends the best hair type to suit your hair and lifestyle. I like low maintenance hair so I tend to get curl patterns. Flexi rods? #aintnobodygottimefodat These also blend best with my hair which is dry curled.   Indian Curly My first order was Indian Curly in various lengths; this was a special order since I needed I tips to get my hair fusioned. The quality was excellent . I always tell the story of how I feel into the sea trying to board a water sport vessel and after the whip lashing ride I rejoined the cruise and this hair dried with no problems. No tangling, no brittlene
