IMATS New York 2015 Haul

Finally right? Going to IMATS - International Makeup Artist Trade Show - was such an unexpected blessing. We had originally planned to go to The Makeup Show which is happening this weekend but something big is happening in my family that I couldn't miss. So with Sharalee 's excellent planning and organisational skills plus a #TeamModen effort to scrape de coppers together IMATS happened instead. From reading my previous posts  you get the jist of the level of hauling done on this trip; and that was even before we got to IMATS. This one is pretty small in comparison. I've posted a lot of pictures from the event on Instagram  so feel free to check them out. M.A.C (plus one) Haul

Limited edition things gon' be the death of us . Way before the NYC trip I'd made some online orders that I collected while abroad. I wanted a few things from the Toledo collection that I feared would have sold out quickly locally and I also managed to get one item from the super limited Bao Bao Wan collection. The special packaging just gets me! 'Oxblood' (Matte) Lipstick 'Ripe Peach' Blush Ombre 'Kindergarten Red' Blush Ombre 'Summer Opal' Beauty Powder By some grace of the Father another limited edition product was restocked and Sharalee hooked me up with a quickness: Bobbi Brown 'Bronze Glow' It's not M.A.C but since it's an Estee Lauder brand I figured I'd just stick it in there. Funny enough, the most exciting part of all of this was that I finally got an item via the Back 2 M.A.C program. That's their recycling scheme where you can return six full size items that qualify - i.e. h

Excellent Customer Service - Make Up For Ever (MUFE)

Make Up For Ever had a huge booth at IMATS New York. They were cool enough to honour the same discounts at their boutique. So when one of their reformulated Artist Shadows that Sharalee wanted was already sold at the show we quickly made our way to the Studio on East 12th Street to cop it. We barely made it before closing time but Faina was so nice and still let us in. Though their shift was over the staff didn't rush us. They answered our questions about the new releases; we were most interested in the new primers. Heidi bought the mattifying one and already loves it. Faina was nice enough to shade match Sharalee and well as give Heidi some glitter samples. She was so amazed that we came from Barbados to go to IMATS.  Sponges and puffs galore!  What a great opportunity to see and touch the MUFE products up close; and since this boutique was close to their Academy, they also had products from Embryolisse and Alcone. Faina was so knowledgeabl

Deer Park CCO Haul

One chilly day after a trip on the Long Island Rail Road we reached a place of sheer jubilation. Deer Park has many many many outlet stores for very popular brands including: Gap, Coach, Kate Spade, J Crew, Adidas, Saks Off Fifth Avenue etc. etc. Of course we went for the makeup. First stop was The Cosmetics Company Store where we saw loads of M.A.C, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Estee Lauder, Tom Ford, Smashbox, Origins, Joe Malone...and I'm probably forgetting some. Basically brands under the Estee Lauder umbrella. We got lost in the makeup vortex. There were past M.A.C collections from Maleficent, RiRi Hearts M.A.C, Kelly and Sharon Osbourne, Temperature Rising, Alluring Aquatic and the Christmas collection. Sooooooooooooo many things, not enough money :( The motherload Origins Skincare Must Haves M.A.C Extended Play Gigablack Lash  M.A.C Prep+Prime Highlighter 'Peach Lustre' (repurchase) M.A.C Turquatic Rollerball M.A.C Demi-wipes Just a few stores awa

Product Rave | First Aid Beauty (FAB) Face Cleanser

I purchased a First Aid Beauty kit in December mostly to try out their Facial Radiance Pads that I'd heard so much about. I still haven't opened those but what I have been using since my REN Clarimatte T-Zone Control Cleansing Gel  ran out is the Face Cleanser. From the site : " A MILD FACE CLEANSER THAT FEELS LUXURIOUS FAB Face Cleanser gently cleanses the skin, removes surface oils, make up, dirt and grime. Its whipped texture transforms into a rich cream when blended with water. It is infused with a powerful botanical antioxidant blend that works hard to scavenger free radicals. WHO SHOULD USE IT? FAB Face Cleanser is ideal for sensitive or irritated skin, skin that is undergoing treatment or as a gentle alternative for healthy skin. BENEFITS Preserves the natural oils that protect the skin. Calms redness and irritation. PH-balanced to maintain the natural acidity of the skin. Daily use will result in fewer flare ups and reduced skin reactivity. FEATURES No pa

Sephora Haul

...because no trip to New York is complete without a Sephora haul. This trip was super special because we went to quite a few branches including a huge one on 5th Avenue.  Sharalee invited us to accompany her to a VIB Rouge event where we got mini makeovers, talked to brand representatives and got to shop before the store opened to the public. Tres chic! Extra special shoutout to Erica who was a) extremely helpful and knowledgeable about skincare and, b) GORGEOUS. You could tell she was a mature lady - she said she's been in the beauty industry for 20+ years - but you can't tell if she's a day over 35. As we does say, she sweet tuh all. Boy o boy, do we have some hauls for you. So much so we have to break them up. Right now it's all about Target, Duane Reade, Marshalls and Ulta. The motherload The joy of 24 hr shopping! While those stores are more expensive - you pay for convenience I guess - it was great to see so many brands that we locally don't have access to. We really didn't see that many deals until we got to Ulta :'( Speaking of Ulta, that's where I saw so many Zoya polishes I couldda cry. Excellent Customer Service - NARS

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand we're back. If you're asking back from where you need to check us out on Instagram -  @lr_interlaceinc and @modenmakeup . There's so much to tell you about from the trip but I had to start with the few incidences of excellent customer service that I was privy to. Let's start with the lovely time I had in the Nars boutique at 413 Bleecker Street, it's a free standing store (FSS). First off, a huge thanks to Sharalee without whom I wouldda been as lost as them folks on Gilligan's Island... Where there's makeup, she will find it. My crazy excited face... Regular readers know how I feel about those Audacious lipsticks and while I have seen them in countless Sephora locations it was a joy to see the boutique exclusive shades in person. I must have 'Vanessa', 'Vivien' and 'Deborah'. It was a joy to see all the Nars products up close to be honest but the greatest pleasure was speaking to Danie

Ruby Kisses Matte Lip Lacquer by Kiss

Good Morning  & Happy Easter Monday!! Last week, we three, Lucinda , Mummy and I went into #1 Beauty Supply on St. Michael's Row here in Barbados. There was the display with the Ruby Kisses Matte Lip Lacquers !! All but two were available, Queen (the purple beauty) and Bellagio (Deep Marine Blue). However I bought the rest :D And I got one for Lucinda as well for her to try. They retail for $12.00 BBD and I truly believe six (6) days in that I'm going to absolutely love them! Here are the lip lacquers on display: I swatched them and Lucinda uploaded same time!! Excited much lol. The product description : Ruby Kisses Matte Lip Laquer is the hybrid of lipstick and lipgloss and has high definition and full coverage! Just one coat creates luscious, brilliant color. Ruby Kisses Matte Lip Laquer glides on smoothly, non sticky and stays in place for hours of continuous wear. I can attest to the demi matte ( they say glossy, I don't see a high shine gloss
