Brand Awareness: NARS Cosmetics image

Francois Nars started NARS Cosmetics in 1994, with just 12 lipsticks, reportedly after being frustrated with how little product there was for makeup artists. After he moved to New York in 1984 he quickly became popular with the major Fashion Houses for "his ability to create looks that captured the story and feel of their designs". NARS Cosmetics is known for their bold colours and raunchy product names.

From the site: ""I don't believe in blank beauty. I need character and personality" - Francois Nars, Founder & Creative Director

Francois Nars' creative vision, which launched NARS Cosmetics with 12 iconic lipsticks in 1994, inspires self expression and imaginative artistry through an unexpected, no-rules philosophy of beauty.
As one of the most influential image-makers in the world, Francois' signature boundary-pushing approach to makeup manifests from the palette to the product name to the campaign photograph itself -continuing to bring high-fashion, high-style, and forward thinking to beauty. With every product opportunities for self expression: "Don't hold back. Be bold. It encourages other to do the same.""

Every beauty lover has heard about 'Orgasm' blush. Apparently it was Sephora's top seller from 2006 - 2008. That's the kind of product name that's synonymous with NARS: 'Deep Throat', 'Sex Machine'...and the list goes on. In 2000, Nars sold his company to Shiseido. He made so much from the deal that he was able to buy an island with some of it. Yeah, just some.

NARS Cosmetics may not be in the luxury cosmetics brackett like Guerlain and Chantecaille but it's no M.A.C either. Those aforementioned 'cult classic' blushes will cost you $30USD - I missed the days when they were $24 - a pop.You can take a look at their Best Sellers page to see what else the world is loving.

Earlier this year you would have seen me rave about how nice a NARS Artist, Daniel, treated us at the flagship Bleecker Street Boutique. I was so impressed with him that I had to make a purchase later. Until that point I had purchased my NARS items from Sephora or Nordstrom.

Radiant Creamy Concealers 'Caramel' and 'Cafe'

The Radiant Creamy Concealers were all the rave on YouTube a few months ago, but yuh know with the constant new releases in the beauty world people just move on to the next. I haven't. Neither has Sharalee. **sidebar** Beauty YouTubers are currently raving about the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer which is $28USD for 0.16 oz. This NARS concealer is 0.22 oz. for $29USD.

The hype is real on the blushes y'all. You just have to find the shade you like best. This limited edition 'Tribulation' is a gorgeous highlighter for our complexion.

And of course, the lipsticks...I hear once that Francois believed that lipstick is the ultimate cosmetic item because in a pinch you can also use it on your eyes and cheeks. This is apparently his premise for creating the now infamous Multiple.

I should add that these Audacious Lipsticks contain more product that regular ones: 4.2 grams vs. 3 (M.A.C) - 3.5 (Charlotte Tilbury) grams. Their other very popular lip product is the Velvet Matte Lip Pencils.

Though the prices aren't the cheapest the quality of them is undeniable. NARS Cosmetics is cruelty free - though is must be noted that Shiseido isn't.

One drawback to the rubberized packaging is that it holds on to product and lint very easily. My Foreplay blush palette got something sticky on it and now it's looking impossible to remove :(

Shout out to Logan on the photobomb

Still, I recommend getting the palettes because they're great to travel with.

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

#FlashbackFriday | Beauty in Panama

Panama is most definitely beautiful. It was never a place I intended to visit so let me begin by thanking Innovate Barbados and COPA Airlines for the opportunity. COPA Airlines sponsored Innovate Barbados 2018 and provided three tickets for attendees to any COPA Airlines destination in the Caribbean or Central America. Panama was being promoted as a shopping destination - cause yuh know how Bajans love tuh shop!

If you're new to this blog, when a post starts with 'Beauty at/in...' it's not about the places' landscapes. It's a beauty blog after all; we're all about what cosmetics are available.

Having done no research about Panama, I was shocked to see the variety of brands available there. Panama is home to the largest mall in the Americas: Albrook Mall.

Very popular brands are available in Panama; whether it's via stand alone stores or counters in Cave Shepherd  / JC Penny-esque department stores. They're a lot of pictures ahead to be prepared to s…
