Best In Beauty 2015 (Newbies)

As you would imagine, putting all these things into one post means it's gonna be long. So brace yuhself. Honestly I tried to keep it to 15 items like the Repeats post but when I really started looking around that just din cutting it. Some of the following items aren't new to the market by any means; they might not even be new to my collection. They're just stellar products that I haven't mentioned in any Top Ten list before. Again, click on the links provided for more information. Please :)

Kyrsiee's Essentials Shea Butter Body Butter

When I got over the glorious whipped texture of this thing I then marvelled afresh at how amazing it made my skin feel. You need so little of it that this jar will last a while and then the's just $10! #rep246

FAB Face Cleanser

Gentle yet effective.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant

Not gentle at all...I call it sandpaper for the face. Not that it'll cut you but I wouldn't recommend it for sensitive skin. What I would recommend is using a very good face oil afterwards. Your. Skin. Will. Feel. Magical. p.s. this puts the hyped up Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment in the shade.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster

Y'all know I love Vitamin C treatments; this one stole the show last year. It comes in a transparent glass bottle so please store it out of the sun to maintain its potency. I noticed that this primed my face very well for makeup application.

Dr. Hauschka Quince Day Cream

My cousin brought this back for me from Vegas and totally shocked me. I had never heard of the brand before. Researched revealed that it's a pretty big deal. "Quince Day Cream is a moisturizer for normal, dry and sensitive skin conditions. It retains the skin's moisture throughout the day and offers gentle protection. Skin feels pampered and refreshed". I have oily skin so I use it very sparingly but lemme tell you: it makes my face look so healthy!

Dr. Hauschka Quince Day Cream -

Single handedly *tee hee* saved me in New York last year.

L'Oreal Paris New Complete Care La Manicure 7 In 1 Saviour

I think the "7 in 1" claims are a stretch but it is a good nail treatment/base coat. It's also a quick fresh looking manicure when just paired with a glossy top coat.

Nail polish was a hard one. Overall I was really impressed with the RGB Cosmetics cream formulas and the extensive shade range of the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel line. Colour wise all the 'dusty mauves' had my heart but when I thought about a polish I actually used more than twice for the year...

Maybelline Color Show Jewels 'Precious Pearl 600'

Great for hiding knicks and dings too.

True Blue Spa Sugar 60-Second Manicure Hand Scrub

I love the scent, the consistency and how it lathers as I'm washing it off.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deeeeep Treatment

Yeah, those 'e's aren't a typo. LOL.
I usually leave my hair care to the experts but on those off weeks when I gotta do it myself I use this as a treatment. Occasionally I will add some coconut oil and leave it in for a while.

Bless whomever it was that first discovered this as a great tool for manicure clean ups. It is a game changer.

Hakuhodo J511BkSL

I'm a fan of angled cheek brushes; they really work well for my small face. This one is the softest goat hair brush that I have. It's excellent for working with subtle blushes that you have to build up. What's even better: the J series in the Hakuhodo range is very well priced...well in comparison to M.A.C brushes and the quality is way better.

Sephora PRO Airbrush blush

Sharalee gave me and I can't thank her enough. The shape reminds me of a narrower version of my beloved Louise Young LY06 but this is more durable since the bristles are synthetic. These brushes also come with guards that are great for storage or traveling. The sole con to the construction is the long handle but that's just personal preference due to my poor eyesight.

Clinique Cheek Pop/Blush Pop '07 Cola Pop'

I've seen a lot of Beauty Vloggers mention this blush line in their 2015 favourites and it's for good reason. The formula is blendable with just enough pigment. Some shades even have a great sheen to them. 'Cola Pop' is the darkest in the range but you'd be surprised at how effortlessly thing blends into the skin. Just beautiful. And of the course the packaging is a cute touch.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup

Now this is a weird one 'cause I don't have my correct shade. I've heard so many people rave - I mean rave - about this product so when Marcela sent us some to try I was ecstatic. Sadly, '4W2 Toasty Toffee' doesn't match me. Some months later I saw '6N1 New Truffle' on sale in Cave Shepherd and couldn't pass that opportunity up but that shade is too dark and red for me. Here's the part where it earned its spot in this post: during one of those #LipSwatchWeek post prep I decided to mix 'New Truffle' with a Clinique foundation I have that's too light. That day was the first day ever that I didn't have to set a liquid foundation. Talk about mattifying!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup 'Toasty Toffee' and 'New Truffle' -

Just a great all rounder. Worth every cent.

They really tried it with that name but I can't deny that it's a solid product.

There are many concealer-in-a-pencil type products out there and thankfully NYX has given us one at a good price. My favourite use for this type thing is to perfect my eyebrows. Of course, that's only after Jenai (259-4575) has waxed them like only she can.

NYX Wonder Pencil 'Dark' applied -

My high end lip gloss of choice. It hasn't replaced my NYX Butter Glosses but rather come right along aside them. I must have them all but this shade is especially great since it's so sheer that I have no qualms wearing it to bed.

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector '03 Nude Shimmer' -

Milani Color Statement Moisture Matte 'Matte Beauty'

Totally impressed with this shade and the texture/finish of these lipsticks. More importantly, thank God they changed the scent from the one in the original Color Statement line.

Milani Color Statement Moisture Matte 'Matte Beauty' -

I don't like to mention limited edition products but if I'm to be honest this was my most reached for lipstick in 2015.

M.A.C 'Pander Me' -

but the lipstick that stole the whoooooooooooooole show...

Love the colour. Love the formula. Love the fact that the shade is the same as my beloved NYX lip liner 'Plum'. Love. Just love.

Nars Audacious 'Vivien' -

Y'all still with me?

Only highlighters left I swear. This category was left for last because it's what I spent the most on last year. Even more that lipsticks...that gotta be a record.

Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder 'Bronze Glow'

Numero uno. What 'Champagne Pop' what. No shade on Becca highlighters though; their formula is impeccable - the most finely milled - and I still love my 'Topaz'. Sharalee girl you ain't know what you do! LOL

Nars Blush 'Tribulation' LE

When I saw Trisha mention this in her 2015 favourites I was there screaming at the screen: "yasss gurl, yaaaaaassssss" *neck pop* *finger snap*

If you don't like that 'shine from outer space' that the Becca highlighters provide or the wet look that the Bobbi Brown and M.A.C Extra Dimension-esque do, you have to get Tribulation (it's still available!). I'm not sure if Heidi tried the one I gave to her yet but ask her if you doubt me. The finish is a step up from the gorgeous Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights 'Baked Starburst'

That's it. Like that ain't a million things.

Be sure to let me know your favourites in the comments.

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

It's A Dupe!

Long time no dupe.

Corny? I know. I try.

Faithful readers would have seen me rave about the Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, a.k.a Face Cement, numerous times. Well, we have a dupe: The Make Up For Ever (MUFE) Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. I knew it instantly. So instantly that I've used the MUFE twice and decided that it's ridiculous to keep both since they are the same.

You can read all about the Becca primer in the link above so I'm just going to talk about the MUFE version here.
