Dealing with Body Acne

Do people even talk about this?

Acne body washes - www.modenmakeup.com

Truly my instances of body acne aren't bad. The flare ups are mostly diet or hormone related. If your case is serious you need to see a doctor/dermatologist. Recently I asked if you prefer benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. I wanted to bring your attention to three acne treatment body washes.

Murad Acne Body Wash - $40USD for 8.5 fl. oz. Sephora.com

This features a mixture of chemical and physical exfoliators that assist in acne management. If you have sensitive skin I wouldn't recommend this one because it does contain menthol. It doesn't bother me though and I especially like the consistency of this product as a physical exfoliator.

Neutrogena Body Clear Body Scrub - $20.49 BDS for 8.5 fl. oz Massy Stores

Neutrogena Body Clear Body Scrub - www.modenmakeup.com

This is a softer physical exfoliator than the Murad but it has double the percentage of salicylic acid. It's readily accessible in Barbados and I've repurchased it numerous times. Although it only contains beta hydroxy acid (BHA) as the chemical exfoliant it's a good product to have handy. I definitely prefer this version over their Pink Grapefruit one...but that's just cause I don't like that scent. Speaking of scent, fragrance is relatively high on this ingredients list so again, be mindful of that if you have sensitive skin.

Ingredients: Water, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Glycerin, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Jojoba Esters, Acrylates Copolymer, Sodium Chloride, Fragrance, Sodium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Citric Acid, Yellow 6, Yellow 5, Red 40, Red 33, Blue 1.

Mario Badescu A.H.A Botanical Body Soap - $8USD for 8 fl. oz. Nordstrom.com

This one's a little different since it contains alpha hydroxy acids and no physical exfoliators. This would be a welcomed addition to any body wash rotation and the price can't be beat. I'd repurchase...oh, and it smells nice!

Ingredients: Aqua (Water, Eau), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, Citrus Grandis Fruit (Grapefruit) Extract, Tilia Cordata Flower Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Panthenyl Hydroxypropyl Steardimonium Chloride, Parfum (Fragrance), Benzyl Alcohol, Citronellol, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamaldehyde, Linalool, CI 19140 (Yellow 5), CI 15985 (Yellow 6), CI 16035 (Red 40).

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

The beauty industry is really ovadoing it with the releases cause they realise consumers are just lapping it up. We really need to take stock of what we have and be more mindful of what we're purchasing.

Personally I'm at a point where not much excites me and I truly need to cut my eye at the people tings 😁 That and Auntie Mia wanna put VAT on online purchases 👀I dunno how we gine survive bout hey! Of course I still wanna support the local M.A.C counters and attend Beauty Tradeshows so I gotta be realistic. A low buy suits me just fine.
