Top Ten Sephora VIB Sale Recommendations

It's that time again. I'm not sure of the dates as yet but one major thing has changed: Sephora no longer ships to commercial addresses 😡I discovered this recently after two of my orders were cancelled. Their customer service said it is something they were cracking down on since late July. Stupse. Sephora clearly ain't care about those of us who have to use mail forwarders. Soooooo yeah...less hauls for me in the future which I am annoyed about. More money for Beautylish den *insert Kanye shrug*

Regular readers have seen my wish list posts every time the sale is approaching. I love watching these types of videos on YouTube so I always want to throw my hat in the ring. There are a couple recommendation posts on this blog as well but this year I wanted to narrow it down to my top ten. Now, of course they're plenty favourites I'd like to mention but in efforts to make this concise...

Sunday Riley Good Genes

After continued use I've decided that this is one I'd repurchase.

Son & Park Beauty Water

I know; it's new to my collection but I'm already a believer. I like it better than Bioderma.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator

Affectionately dubbed, "my face sandpaper". I'd also suggest the REN Clean Skincare Mirco Polish Cleanser if the Dr. Brandt is too steep for your pockets.

Korres Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser

Another newbie but a solid recommendation from Stephanie Nicole. If you want more size (and price) options, try the First Aid Beauty Cleanser that both Heidi and I have raved about.

Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil

They recently released a 0.5 oz bottle for $40USD. Cop that.

Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu Power C x 30 Vitamin C Brightening Serum

If you watched the #SkinTober live that Alpheus and I did recently you heard us go on at length about the benefits of Vitamin C to your skin. If you don't have a Vitamin C serum in your skincare routine I would highly recommend researching them.

Shiseido Facial Cotton

The best.

Givenchy Kohl Couture Waterproof Retractable Eyeliner 'Cobalt'

Bright. Just bright. Lasts too.

Hair braided by Natural Instinct Salon

NARS Audacious Lipsticks

Wunna gotta be tired hearing me talk about them.

Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder 'Bronze Glow'

The highlighter fad has not ended...and I have not stopped purchasing them. This one still stands out to me though. Black women, this is for us.

Let us know what you'll be purchasing in the sale. Also, who else is pissed about this new shipping rule?

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

With Key Ingredients:

Purified Lactic Acid: One of the most hydrating Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Lactic Acid exfoliates the surface layers of t…

The Makeup Show L.A. 2017

I know, I know...I get back eva since. The task was trying to figure out if to separate the experience post from the haul. Let's lump it all together shall we? Prepare to scroll.

Sharalee thinks that this show had more of an uptight crowd. There were a lot of celebrity -and celebrated - professional makeup artists. Still, I didn't get the vibe that is was less friendly than New York. The Makeup Show on a whole has a more serious feel than IMATS. The Pros are about knowledge sharing and networking. Of course the brands are there to sell products but that doesn't seem to be the frenzied focus. Lots of shots are taken at Instagram trends and click bait marketing 😁These are real lovers of the craft that don't take kindly to fly-by-night 'online influencers'. That said, the brands have embraced social media and a few current marketing mediums #obvs
L.A. didn't have a Beauty Tour like the New York version but there was a Beauty Brunch on the day before the Show …
