PM Skincare Routine

I had this on my blog post 'to do' list for the longest time. After much reflection I have discovered that I have no dedicated night time skincare routine. Let me explain. As I was telling Lasonta recently, you should give your skin what it's feeling for. The primary thing being hydration of course; drink your required daily intake of water. That may mean an acid toner one night and a beauty oil another. You may want to apply a lot of layers (thinnest to thickest please) or you might just want to stick to a serum or moisturizer. Some nights I wash my face and dassit. Listen to your skin.

That said...there are a lot of things in rotation over here. Please check out the links provided 🙇

Cleanser

REN Clean Skincare Clarimatte T-Zone Control Cleansing Gel is still my most repurchased. Currently I'm loving the Korres Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser. The First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser is still a favourite. If I'm washing my face at the sink I use something different alltuhgedda.

Mask

I do not mask at night. For no reason other than laziness. More information on masks can be found in the Mask Monday series

This does not include sleeping masks...which I think is just another marketing term for moisturizer but hey what do I know? On that front, I am a fan of the Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu Power C x 30™ Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Mask (when used in conjunction with the serum). I've recently opened a sample of the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask and so far so good.

Toner

I am fuheva trying toners. Of late, I use the Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 1970 plus a hydrating toner or the Son & Park Beauty Water.

Essence

My collection of essences is growing. Even so, it's not a step I'm willing to undertake every night. So far, the easiest one to apply is the belif Hungarian Water Essence. Also in rotation is the May Coop Raw Sauce and SK-II Facial Treatment Essence.

Serum

This list could be as bad as the toners. On nights when I don't use P50, I can use an exfoliating serum like Good Genes or T.L.C. I've also been loving the Dr. Brandt 2% Retinol Complex Serum. When P50 is in play I might use the Tata Harper Rejuvenating Serum, Sunday Riley C.E.O. Rapid Flash Brightening Serum or kick it old school and just go with Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex

Eye Cream

I still am not totally sold that eye cream isn't a scam. But on nights when I'm feeling indulgent I whip out the samples of the belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb or Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Eye Cream (that leaves my skin feeling soooooooooo soft).

Moisturizer

I've said before that I prefer to use beauty oils rather than designated moisturizers. Recently though I have opened a sample of the belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb and I get why it's hyped.

Acne Treatments

Disclaimer: Now I only experience hormonal or dietary (too much dairy) acne.

Usually I always have one of these in the arsenal. Now that I have the Malin + Goetz Acne Treatment Nighttime, I'm not sure I'll need to repurchase acne cream. To be fair, when my skin is feeling congested the first thing I do is use masks like the REN Clean Skincare Glycolactic Renewal MaskTata Harper Resurfacing Mask or Peter Thomas Roth Therapeutic Sulfur Mask.

Lip Balm

We gotta talk about this category in a whole separate post. I have so many lip balms. The rms beauty lip & skin balm 'simply vanilla' still has Holy Grail status. If you're not willing to spend that much, check out the options from Eden's Choice Naturals.

Body Moisturizer

I still stand by what I said in this post. Be sure to show your feet, knees and elbows some love before bed. At my bedside I have a few things going: the body butter and balm from Star Isle, a vanilla lotion from Eden's Choice Naturals and a coconut lotion that my girl from The Pretty Kitty gave me to try.

Yeah. All that 😁 This is why I don't know what to tell people when they ask me what I use on my skin. I do direct them to the blog though 😏

Sunday Riley Good Genes versus Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

If you're an avid YouTube watcher you've probably heard about these products. Both brands blew up on the skincare seen in short order as expensive, but effective. If you're like me you quickly began to wonder: which is better? Short answer: it depends.

Long answer...

I've mentioned Good Genes a few times before on the blog. This 'all-in-one lactic acid treatment' is raved about by the likes of Stephanie Nicole and Caroline Hirons.

From the box: "Deeply exfoliates the dull surface of the skin for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of age spots and discolorations. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes*

*Clinically tested and proven to significantly improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in 3 minutes. Results obtained via profilometry analysis.

It's A Dupe!

Long time no dupe.

Corny? I know. I try.

Faithful readers would have seen me rave about the Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, a.k.a Face Cement, numerous times. Well, we have a dupe: The Make Up For Ever (MUFE) Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. I knew it instantly. So instantly that I've used the MUFE twice and decided that it's ridiculous to keep both since they are the same.

You can read all about the Becca primer in the link above so I'm just going to talk about the MUFE version here.
